Louisiana sucks but I love it

Awesome site for Louisiana recipes. More geared to Lafayette food vs New Orleans.

Lived in Metairie for 36 years. I miss the seafood the most. I live in a city in central Florida now about 10 miles from the gulf and can't get good seafood. We do have a Popeyes so I can still love me some chicken from Popeyes.

I lived south of Lafayette in Youngsville from'81 to '86. A short ride to Delcambre to buy fresh shrimp off the boats... $2/lb.

It’s weird, when I go on vacations close to the coast it is tough to find local seafood. The ocean/gulf is right there but everything is flown in from halfway around the world.

New Orleans is the best city, just wish it was in a more livable climate. Otherise, it's hostile like 9 months of the year with humidity and 80-200 degrees outside.

You yanks can't get stuff like this.

Not a yank but not true. You go to coastal areas and big urban cities like New York and you can get some good fresh seafood in the US. Louisiana might think they use lot of seasoning and have the best seafood but I don't think so. It's different and good for sure.

You actually think you can get better seafood in the US than Louisiana??? Yeah, no...

US? Maybe. You can get some good seafood on the East and West Coast. Is it better than stuff you get in New Orleans? Hard to say. But good seafood is not limited to Louisiana.

Oh you can get some good seafood elsewhere, no doubt, but you can't get better or a wider range of absolutely great fresh seafood.

I can agree with wider range. But in terms of global, stuff you get in Louisiana is not really that fresh. But that goes for pretty much the entire US and Western world. If you're fan of fresh seafood, you need to visit some of the cities in Asia.

I do need to visit New Orleans. It's been years since I been there and I think my wife and daughter would both enjoy it. I fly to other side of the world to eat good food. I can drive 9 hours to eat.

I ate delicious food in LA. I went to Man v Food-featured Dino's or something. BBQ Shrimp was DELICIOUS

Have you been to Alaska? Stuff seemed as fresh as fresh can be around Anchorage when I went there around 20 years ago.
