Well it's topped the murder per capita charts since 1989, but actually the crime rates have dropped slightly since 2010. (Along with crime rates nationwide). But don't ever let facts get in your way.

There's nothing wrong with the place that cuts In federal taxes & spending won't cure completely, I'm sure. Their smashing tax cut adventure & that of Kansas are like shining beacons for Washington lawmakers, obviously.

Once they succeeded in creating a crisis, the answer was... wait for it... to beat the cash out of the little people & defund the services they use.

Cut spending in Louisiana? Far from it.

It's hard to imagine, but Louisiana actually had more money than it knew what to do with during the last two years of Gov. Kathleen Blanco's administration. The state budgets -- at that point -- reached record heights.

In the 2007-2008 fiscal cycle, Louisiana had a spending plan of $28.6 billion. In the the year before Hurricane Katrina, total state spending was $16.5 billion, according to the Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office. The Legislature expected this year's total state budget to be $24.5 billion -- or $4 billion less than it was in 2007-2008.

And ya'll can read the rest about how stupid the "statutory dedications" are and other stupid things that they (D+R) did for years so now they are paying the price.

I still find it funny that we elected a democrat for governor (going to hear him speak on Tues). Hatred of Jindal coupled with Vitters prostitution issue got him in, and I don't think Edwards is too bad if he can just get the damned budget under control. Unfortunately curbing spending isn't really in his playbook.

As for the current election I've got nothing really to add other than I'm not a big Foster Campbell fan.

Edwards was the first and so far only democrat I ever voted for.

Sounded like both the Democratic candidate and the Republican candidate were equally slimy, essentially interchangeable old white guys.

I have a question because I'm getting tired of this. How or why is this:

...slimy, essentially interchangeable old white guys.

...not called out or generally regarded as racist, but this:

...slimy, essentially interchangeable old black guys.

...would probably incite accusations of racism and hatred?

LOL at Flush concern-trolling over Louisiana. And of course never letting a fact get between you and your talking point bullshit, spoon-fed to you by your puppet masters.

As Svnla pointed out, Louisiana didn't cut its budget. Must have been some fake lib 'nooze' that told you otherwise, you sure didn't bother to check a fucking fact, as usual.

And it's still funny to me you leftloons going on about Kansas, having failed to manufacture any kind of *actual* crisis in that state. I remember you loons whining about schools in Kansas because of them not spending hand-over-fist, the leftloon solution for everything. So where's that crisis? Did you ever look into it? OF COURSE not!

Kansas schools rank #20 this year. Meanwhile big spender California ranks #40. But leave it to Flush. "CRISIS IN KANSAS!!! SCREEECH!!" As charged, you're a fucking idiot.

You're like Baghdad Bob. LA & KS are both obviously experiencing Repub policy induced budget crises. So they're selling off assets, raiding their piggy banks, cutting services & raising sales taxes to compensate. Don't worry, though, cuz it'll all trickle down eventually, right?
