Louie Gohmert upset he can’t lie to Congress

Yes, well, I don't think Gomer quite meant it to come out like that, but he's kind of an idiot. Especially since what he was really trying to say was ludicrously false.

He was comparing DoJ's decision to prosecute Peter Navarro for non-cooperation with the committee to Michael Sussman being acquitted by a jury. Full stop. DoJ decides to prosecute both men. One man is acquitted not by DoJ but by a jury. The other's charges are still pending.

And his point is that conservatives are being persecuted in an unfair system. Isn't that always their point? They are always being persecuted by the ebil liberal establishment. By the press, by social media, in public schools, everywhere.

But their base voters believe this tripe. They always believe it. They've believed it ever since Limbaugh started telling them way back in the 80's that the media was biased against them. So they won't give it even the .2 seconds thought it would require any rational person to see how absurd the comparison he's trying to make really is.

The base derives their sense of self worth as their identification with the radical right. They are the most emotionally insecure among us but they have the pride and the self satisfaction of holding tight to their marching orders. People who are empty of self respect don't just have nothing because they have a deep need for revenge and can be pointed like a cannon at anyone they can be convinced it is who robbed them of that respect.

I don't know how old many of you guys are. But if you know the tune of Elvis Presley's "Jail House Rock," follow along.

(Before anyone complains, I often write parodies).

And I posted this since the Jan. 6th Commission is slated to hold public hearings ...

Trumpers' Jail House Mock

Hawley screamed the vote just wasn’t fair
Rudy poured dye on his thinning hair
Court after court said ya’ll got no case
Cruz hoped to gain the crazies in Trump’s base

Let’s mock
The traitors we’ll mock
’Cause they’ll be in a dank cell block
More charges will add to their shock

Trump’s zealots long planned to storm The Hill
All day long this gave him such a thrill
It didn’t take long for all to know the cost
The entire world knows that fool still lost

Let’s mock
The Trumpers we’ll mock
’Cause they’ll be in a dank cell block
In fear as they deal with the shock

A fool stole a lectern, gave a goofy stare
Another posed for photos in the Speaker’s chair
These clowns like to brag they got more groups
They’re gonna mess around and face real troops

Let’s mock
The traitors we’ll mock
’Cause they’ll be in a loud cell block
In fear as they deal with the shock

Don't know the tune?

Elected position in Texas. His appointment to the Appeals Court was by Rick Perry (guess he didn't have the smartifying glasses on that day).

Maybe so or maybe not but the appointment itself proves nothing. Imagine how sad you have to be to have become so famously stupid you could actually don glasses in the hope of hiding it. That's some real stupid right there but not from intellectual defect but because it just tells you how deep the feelings of worthlessness he need to hide from himself. A man carrying such inner damage just makes me sad. Nevertheless, the actions of broken men can be very very dangerous to others.

Well Repub politicians as a group lie with such regularity and with such conviction that they've become down and dirty numb and liberated from being held to any and all ethical and moral standards that at one time in the past was something they had at the least paid attention to if only for appearances sake.

Fast forward to the present and we have Repubs like Gohmert and his ilk who have found that the Trump formula for scamming votes for themselves works well with the base and for them that's all that really matters when it comes to getting a foot in the door via the primaries. It's just that they've taken lying, misinforming, misleading and excoriating the Dems to such a level of absurdity and not give a damn about losing their credibility, reputations and stature in the effort. They're pushing, shoving and climbing over each other in their efforts to see who can leave the most memorable suction mark on Trump's ass.

Wonder if Republicans will just lie during the Jan 6 public hearings?

Do they figure Garland doesn’t have the balls to prosecute for perjury?

Yes, and yes. But more importantly they know that even if Garland decides to charge them, and they are found guilty, it will take 10 years to happen and they will likely just be fined $10,000.

With all their bitching about increases in crime they are cool with crime as long as white people are committing it

more specifically, the right white people. But this isn’t new info, he’s just able to say it out loud now cuz that’s how far into fascist fantasy the R’s are. They aren’t happy with fantasy and are trying to make it a reality. They’re doing a good job of it too

Perhaps it will turn out to be a good thing that fantasy has become so obviously real there will be no hope that if the tide turns they can ever backtrack and deny it.

perhaps, but there’s other ways it can go that seem more likely at this point

Leaving aside the impossibility of certainty with regard to the future or the nature of Black Swan events, how we see the future is potentially a matter of personal projection based at a minimum on past pattern recognition according to an individual's personal history. How those two variables interact then, at a personal level, must of necessity vary by individual in such a way that while the thoughts can be shared, the experience that produces them can't.

My intention, then, as usual is not to claim to know what is true but to introduce perspectives that derive from what I believe is a different perspective. I was fortunate to have been exposed to a body of material that had that function and which may have had some small effect in helping me see differently than what???, typical.
