I am looking for some stereo loudspeakers. I only need 2 and no subwoofer. So I would like to know which one I should go for. They have to be great and a price between $50-100 is allowed.

are you talking computer speakers with an onboard amp, or stand alones to be used with an amp or receiver?

I am talking about some with an onboard amp. If possible I would if both speakers had one - but that is not important.

Most sub-$100 speaker sets come with two satellites and a subwoofer. It lets companies get decent bass without having to provide chunky drive units in both front speakers. Is having a sub a problem?

Those are $199 and Stercus said he could pay $50-$100. And in my opinion they don't sound all that great anyway. Not many people have heard them (I have), they just repeat back what they read someplace else. Not saying that's the case with you, MasterHoss, just a general observation.

You won't find any "great" 2-piece speaker setups for $50-$100, by the way.

It doesn't have to be top of the line but just some good loudspeakers at this price.

Dude, you aren't going to get any without a subwoofer. Just accept it.

Try these.

If you really don't want a sub, try looking for a used stereo receiver for $50 and buy bookshelf speakers for another $50. But seriously, the 'subs' that come with computer speakers are pretty small and can be placed virtually anywhere.

They seem to be alright, but they are not available in Denmark. About the sub, I have too much trouble to place where it sounds great and it doesn't get in the way at the same time - have one already. So if you could come up with one more (it isn't for me but the one I ask for is moving at this time and would like to get some new speakers when he is done moving) maybe the Swans are okay but the price limit I was given is in a our currency, so I guess the limit is 100$ but it might be 150$. Hope this helps a little.

2 x 20watts RMS, response down to 50hz
They are also at Yamaha's Denmark website.
