Yes at over 180 dB SPL I caused a SD20 to mistrack while shooting video. It was sitting in a padded box along with a self contained DPSS laser just to track movement.

I'm going to see what else I can torture test. Killed a few hard drives so far. CF cards and RAM don't seem to mind this however. This should destroy an iPod rather quickly...

video. At 22 seconds the artifact occurs. Both the camera and laser were very warm when recovered as well - noticeably warmer than their surroundings. hmmm

Pretty cool...could you explain what this is a bit more though?.

Video camera in box with laser. Box next to big ass engine making lot of noise. Noise makes camera malfunction.

You're still not explaining things clearly.

#1. What are you trying to do here?

#2. Why is the camera in a box?

#3. What is the laser for?

#4. What is the relation between the laser, the box, the engine, and the camera?

This is explained clearly enough to demonstrate the point of the OP!

The box is foam lined to protect the camera from damage. Ditto for the laser.

The artifact discovered usually happens when a camera is using tape and there is mistracking due to severe mechanical shock or noise levels of high amplitude. This camera is a CCD device and records directly to a SD memory module. The mechanical energy obviously caused somethinng to happen. The camera appears to be working ok surprisingly.

EDIT:

Second Run

Amazingly there were no artifacts in this run. This one seemed to produce more vibration than the first. I need a working notebook to try this on. I'm sure the LCD would succumb to the pressure. Even roaches cannot survive this.
