I am a college student and live with my girlfriend in an apartment complex. It's a decent place and the rent isn't too bad so we like it here.

Anyway, my neighbor is getting on my nerves. I don't see him a whole lot (I think he's an alcoholic), but he plays his fvcking TV/movies loud as hell and we can feel the bass easily through the wall. Now I don't have a problem with someone enjoying their movies on a home theater system, but there is a volume knob for a reason. He's not alone in a house, he's living with others in an apartment complex and should at least try and respect his neighbors.

I haven't tried talking to him personally but I might if this keeps up. I'm kind of scared to though, lol, he's a weird older guy and like I said I think he likes to drink by himself a lot. I wouldn't doubt he sits alone watching loud ass movies while drinking/fapping. Scary. I think I'll make my girlfriend talk to him! :D Well I don't know he might try to rape her or something so maybe that's not such a good idea.

So that's my problem. Any of you guys have a neighbor like that? If so how did you deal with the situation?

haha,

yea, i have a same bitter old neighbor. he is about 35 years old and plays his damn bass so loud that my walls begin to shake. i think he dislikes me because i drive a cavalier and he claims that his tires alone are worth more than my car. anyhow, i went straight to management and ratted on him. the guy kinda scares me so there was no way i was going to go and confront him.

Is he one of those guys that bitches a lot and never goes out? Just hangs out in his apartment staring out the window giving everyone dirty looks?

hehehe, i appreciated this one. in my first year in an apartment, there were two rednecks that lived next door (shared a common wall). they would always do car maintenance on their busted old bronco in the parking lot. that was an eyesore, but what really bugged me was their music listening habits. as redneck as they were, they were apparently techno fans. now that is not my music of choice, and i really didnt appreciate having to hear it and feel the bass at 7AM every morning as they tried to get "psyched up" for class. it never got to the point where i felt pissed enough to do anything about it, but people should really be considerate with their noise - especially at night or in the mornings!

Call the rental ofice and have then take care of it. That's what you pay rent for.

I have already but they might not have addressed the situation yet. I really don't want to move either... this place is close to campus and the rent is good.
