Lott falls on his sword!

Woah, didn't think he would step down so easily.

But good. He was/is an idiot anyways... I mean how STUPID can you be to say the same thing he did?

That's because everyone else was throwing towels, and more, at him. It's not like he didn't bring this on himself.

Looks like faced with the facts, instead of usual right wing spin doctors telling you it was "taken out of context", brings thre results the american community desires.

Now if we can just hold a few more of these wankers feet to the fire, maybe congress can get the house cleaning it so desperately needs.
Edit:
I stand corrected.

Most older southerner still has some degree of racism to blacks. They're brought up during a different era, and a good portion of their life is spent during the segregation period. I don't think Lott intending his comment to be anything but praise toward Thurmond, but he forget how the media, the democrats and his own republican opponent is watching as well.
At least this will bring changes to the senate, hopefully for the better.

BTW Brooks, I did a search before I posted. Your full of crap again. :|

next time, use 'lott' to search

Dems had nothing to do with his downfall, unless they were Afro-American. His own party yanked him and the white house didn't want him because the bastard is as racist as they get. The fact he was raised during the period of our history with such a profound unfair historically dispicable era has no bearing on his mouth and attitude now. People wake up and change when confronted with the facts of the deplorable period of segregation. LOtt didn't. His actions and voting record bore that out. That is why he properly resigned with no strings attached. He would be a burdon to progressive legislation that Bush so desperatly needs in the next two years. Lott would be nothing but a distraction. I have despised this clown for years. I am really happy he is gone and will soon be out of the media limelight.

Dems may have been better served had he resisted and stayed on. They could have fed on the carcus until 2004 elections. No dought they will bring it up in 2004, but praise goes to the repubs this time for getting this a** hole removed. IMHO.

Yeah, even Bill Clinton was sorta of defending Lott while calling the rest of the party names... that was on Yahoo news this morning.

Didn't Lott say last week that if he were to give up his position as Senate majority leader that he would resign his Senate position entirely (which would then allow Mississippi's governor to appoint a Democrat as his replacement)?

. o O ("...and the Congress will push me to raise taxes and I'll say no. Read my lips...")

heh, whats funny is that more dems wanted lott to stay as senate majority leader than repubs

as for resigning, i think thats up to the people of mississippi rather than the rest of us.

Isn't it kinda obvious, 'why'?

If I was a dem, I'd prefer an "embarrassment" represent the opposing party as leader. 😉

Anyone surprised?

Thought so:Q

Lott steps down as Senate leader

Its not like the guy who wants to take his place is much better, so I don't see what the big deal is about.

I think you may want to do a little research on Sen. Frist before making that judgement. It is obvious you have not.

I have, its obvious that you have not considered that.

Well since you said that Frist isn't much better than Lott, I was forced to conclude that you have not done any research. Anyone with any upper brain function would have concluded the same but please tell us why Frist isn't much better than Lott.

what he said was taken totally out of context and he is totally being victimized, but it just goes to show you that when politicians smell blood whats right/wrong doesnt really matter. the democrats and the libral media saw this as an opportunity to stain this guys reputation and they did just that. kinda like the Enron fiasco and how the democrats tried to blame that on the republicans. take an event, blame it on the republicans, and get the news media to air it as #1 story! thats the democrats philosophy. but this isnt just the democrats fault. im disappointed that more republicans didnt step up and defend this guy. and the republicans that called for this guys dismissal should be ashamed of themselves.

if you wanna get some house cleaning done in congress start with hillary clinton and barbara boxer. god what morons those two are!

Well, as I've seen in past threads, explaining something to you more futile than explaining something to a brick wall. But I'll give a hint, voting record.
