I have had the misfortune to listen to significant portions of Rush every weekday for several months now. He, like all TV and radio partisan commentators, takes advantage of the fact that no one can challenge what he says while he says it. Every single day his show is filled with dubious leaps of logic, lies of omission, etc... etc.

Listening to Rush makes you stupider, no doubt. This is the same case with nearly every partisan news source. This is because he and others are not approaching the issues from an honest perspective. They have an agenda, and they push it. Anyone who can't see that is simply naive and foolish.

I used to watch his TV show when I was like 10 or something. I thought it was pretty funny.

This sounds like a ploy to boost ratings more than anything else...

I've spent time listening to ALL of the leading conservative talking heads. In the case of Limbaugh, I listened to him for about a week in an attempt to understand his appeal. I got extremely frustrated because he'd continually make points that I considered to be vulnerable to strong - sometimes devastating - rebuttals. But he took very few calls (unlike most talk radio hosts), and no one who did call effectively challenged him, especially since most of the callers are big fans of his.

So for me, his show was definitely NOT entertaining.

Actually, as I liberal, I find Rush quite educating to listen to. Because it trains your mind in how not to reason and how not to think.
And if you cannot totally debunk his lack of logic, you will fall easy prey to the lying liars on the right and left who will lead you astray
with similar tactics.

But then again, a little Limbaugh goes a long way. And its a slow day for Rush, when a five minute listen does not amount to a overwhelming desire to bask my radio with a large hammer.

But earth to Limbaugh advertisers, I make careful note of who you are, and vow to not spend any of my money on your products.

Great. Your sig has a quote out of context, so you link to an article, which you say is in context, which is out of context.

Read the transcript sometime, and you might figure out that the entire quote was deliberately supposed to be racist. It was sarcasm, Phokus.

What about his comment about Donovan McNabb being overrated because the media wanted a good black quarterback?

Well if he buys the team, they will definately start winning and probably win another Super Bowl. Afterall we know all his players will be playing pain free, so injuries will be of no consequence. :)

I've learned a great deal about modern Conservatism from listening to Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

In my youth, when I thought about Conservative leaders, the names that came to mind were Goldwater and Buckley and Kristol; people of deep intellect and gravitas.
Messrs. Limbaugh and Hannity taught me that leading Conservative thinkers didn't have to be intelligent or even particularly coherent.

What a waste of time. Am I also gonna have to listen to every Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot speech before criticizing any of them?

Weak Challenge is Weak.

I have listened to Rush and he is racist but I'd say he's more misogynistic(sp?) than racist.

I used to listen to him a bit when I was commuting to school. Once I stopped taking his "facts" at face value & realized how much HE was using quotes out of context, then I came to the sudden realization of how fake the guy is, just to make a buck. And, apparently, he makes a lot of bucks. I think he'd do anything to increase the size of his audience.

I think there is no point in listening to him. Just look at his followers...that should be enough of a deterrent.

There is no way I want to be a part of the idiot fan club.

sheep, I've heard his show - sadly we have a sheep at work who believes everything she hears on that show - and he's so far off the deep end - that only someone with a simple mind would take anything other than amusement in listening to him.

Sadly, millions take his word for gospel - and then you get people in this country with so little idea of reality that it's downright scary.

Yep. I know one - actually several - of them. When I questioned a few of the things Rush said the response was something like, 'he tells liberals the truth they're afraid to hear'. Yeah, right...

What a terrible article/challenge.

"Let me guess at your answer. You don't need to listen to him. You've heard enough to know he's a) racist, b) hateful, c) stupid, d) merely an outrageous entertainer not to be taken seriously or e) all of the above."

I actually use to listen to him every morning on the way to class until I picked up Sirius radio. After a year of listening to him I would have to answer e) all of the above.

Why did I listen to him? I'm a masochist.

What I hate about Limbaugh is that he is the biggest hypocrit in the world. He'll rail about infidelity, drug addicts and those kinds of people, then go out and do the EXACT same things he just railed against. He's hardly a paragon of virtue that he extols everyone to be.

That's not the whole transcript, moron, that's Rush Limbaugh using a partial transcript and backtracking and saying it's 'sarcasm' after getting called on it

If you don't think he really meant it, then listen to this segment:

http://andrewsullivan.theatlan...a-vile-racebaiter.html

That's not sarcasm, that's limbaugh being intentionally over the top in order to rile up his listeners.

I'm a conservative, and both Limbaugh and Polanski are disgusting to me, for different reasons. The biggest problem I have with Rush is that he's unapologetically hypocritical.

This is the correct answer. The OP is a joke on a dozen different levels, starting with its idiotic use of false dilemma.
