Damn finally got in on one of the refurb deals... Got three 8500s and 1 8500DV (yes they are actually gonna be used). Finally can get rid of those aging GF1/2MX/Matrox G400 cards. :D

I got an OEM Radeon VE card for $35. Should I have gone for the 7200 for $10 more? Just need it for Counter-Strike so it should be just fine. Didn't need DVI...

Braxus: You want to sell me one of those Matrox G400s? ;)

well, last time I ordered from them, there's no breakout box, just wrapped in an antistatic bag. But it works great. what do you need the breakout box for?

Hrm. Good point. It is probably sdr. Does the SDR version perform better than a Geforce2 MX?

I was just thinking the same thing myself, would be a nice upgrade for my second computer thats still using a TNT1

Is the Radeon VE a worthwhile upgrade from a TNT2, or is it better to wait for something better?

I've got a pokey Celeron@450 right now, so I'm not expecting 200fps in Q3, but the DVD decoding features appeal to me. I'm sure T&L would help too (is that enabled on the VE)?

Edit: Guess no T&L for the VE, according to the AT review. No way to even hack it in since that piece isn't even on the chip die!

why does the retail Radeon 8500 cost less than a OEM LE? what the heck are they thinking?

Thanks,
I got some $30 32meg one, I don't need much, just enough so I can use the new plus stuff from XP.

anyone running Rage Fury Pro under XP?

I've got a voodoo 5500 and I'm so sick of blue screens, it's worth $40 - is this card comparable to the voodoo 5500?

any responses greatly appreciated cause I wanna get it before someone else does ;)

I don't understand why the R8500 LE is 160 though.
