Yep. Stock up on some peanut butter, bbq sauce, and bread, and head for the ex-wifes house. Leave the annoying kids behind though.

Bad luck for 30 days?

Maybe the lightning is farther away than it looks?

I'm in Burlington, and I was going to post the exact same thing. I have seen bolts crash down relatively near (close enough for very loud thunder), and heard nothing.

Loke and I live in the same city and the lightning is incredibly intense.

We have a severe ThunderStorm Warning for all of Southern Ontario.

from Environment Canada:

LONDON - PARKHILL - EASTERN MIDDLESEX COUNTY
11:10 PM EDT WEDNESDAY 2 AUGUST 2006
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR
LONDON - PARKHILL - EASTERN MIDDLESEX COUNTY CONTINUED

THIS IS A VERY HIGH IMPACT SEVERE WEATHER SITUATION..TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS AS ADVISED. MOST OF SOUTHERN ONTARIO WILL BE IMPACTED WITH DAMAGING WINDS AS THE SQUALL LINE TRACKS SOUTHEASTWARD.

..WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS GUSTING TO 120 KM/H AND NEARLY CONTINUOUS LIGHTNING WITH A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS..

AT 11.10 PM THE LINE STRETCHED FROM SOUTHERN END OF LAKE HURON TO NIAGARA THEN EASTWARD. DAMAGING WINDS PRECEDE THE BAND OF HEAVY RAIN.

DAMAGING DOWNBURSTS ARE THE MAIN THREAT WITH THESE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS BUT A CLUSTER OF SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS OVER EASTERN ONTARIO AHEAD OF THE SQUALL LINE..ARE PROBABLY PRODUCING TORNADOES.

REMEMBER SOME SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE TORNADOES..

It saddens me that when War of the Worlds is mentioned, people think of Tom Cruise's crappy version.

It could be. I live in Arizona and this time of the year we have killer thunder/lightning storms. The hot air coming up from Bullhead City and the cold air coming down from Kingman meet right above my house all the time. The phone was just out for days because apparently the lightning took out the transformer (I dont know for sure...im on vacation). Sometimes we'll get the lightning without the thunder....its very creepy.

I was offline due to a power failure.

I saw the most amazing lightning strike ever!. Air to ground and ground to air it lasted nearly 4 or 5 secs. The whole neighbourhood was lit up like day time except it was a bright pure white light.

I wish I had a camera.

Thunder depends a lot on the temperature and pressure. Shifts in pressure systems, humidity levels, convection currents, and other mechanisms of weather sometimes diminish or intensify thunder, especially atmospheric lightning.
