This is cool, but a question, it says this is the "The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (Platinum Series Extended Edition) (Widescreen) (2002)"

Last year I bought LOTR:Fellowship, later the came out with a new release that had an additional 30-40 minutes of footage. If you guys check this one, it does not state that the movie has additional material. On the other hand, if u check the Collectors Edition box (59.99 @ amazon) it clearly says that it contains 40 minutes of additional footage.

Just wondering if anyone knows if the one for 25.99 has the extra footage!
thanks

I'm going to wait for the last movie to be released and then buy the super-deluxe-lotsofdeletedsceneswewantyoutopay3timesfor box set edition.

So it might be a while before I own it on dvd.

Yes it is the cut with all the extra scenes. the theater cut comes out on 8/26.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but the words "Extended Edition" kind of implies that there must be something extra added.......

It says in the description:

DVD Features:
DISCS 1-2: The Feature:

A new version of the second installment includes over 40 minutes of never-before-seen footage incorporated into the film. (approx. 208 minutes)

So this one should be good for all of us Lord of the Rings fans. 😀

Nice! think i'll order it from there. DDD is currently 29.47 and buy.com is 26.98. But doesnt Deep Discount Dvd usually lower theres after awhile?

Ditto that.

Do you guys think there'll be release of a super-everything-extended-enhanced edition of the entire trilogy DVD set? I wondering if I should buy each Extended Edition as they come out or save up for the grand tamale...

I'm not quite sure what you're waiting for. A box set of box sets? The current extended release contains 4 discs in a very classy looking slipcover. The extra features on the 2 supplemental discs are some of the best I've ever seen. I can't wait for the EE of TTT, for both the extra footage and documentaries. I can't possibly imagine a "better" version being released later (short of HD-DVD).

I just don't like how they extend the feature across 2 discs. that's why I didn't bother to buy the fellowship extended version. I'd like it if they come out with superbit movie only single discs of the extended versions without subtitles and commentary tracks and other languages.

Yes, definately.

hmmm, or you could drop into costco or sams on the release day and pick it up for something along the lines of $21.00 like usual. or wait a week after that for best buy, circuit city or target to have it on sale for $19.99 like always...

Well as a nearly deaf guy, I must say, that losing subtitles would bite. HBO used to have only captions and no subtitles on their DVD's and for me, that was an atrocity. Besides, you are fooling yourself if you think that subs and captions are taking up alot of space on a dvd. Anyway, a superbit version of this series would be years away...

All I can say is, think Star Wars Episode IV on DVD kind of wait. It'll be that long trust me.

I just checked the Costco web-site, they have LOTR for $25.49. If you guys signed up w/ Mastercard a while back they gave $15 certificate for Amazon. With the free shipping, LOTR cost me $10.99

I recall reading somewhere that they will not be releasing a supercalifragilisticexpialadocious version with all three films.

I guess they are learning from the Jedi Master George Lucas.

I don't remember any of those retailers selling the first EE for $19.99 until it had been out for nearly half a year. I'm guessing it will be selling for about $26-$28 in store the first week.
