LOTR:TT + 7 Rentals @ Blockbuster 29.99

If you preorder a copy of Lord of the Rings: Two Towers for 29.99 at Blockbuster, you will receive a rental card with 7 rentals on it. This is similiar to other promotions that they have done in the past. The video is being released 8/26 and is the theatrical release. You can find the movie cheaper elsewhere, but if you rent a lot of movies, you come out ahead in the end.

Does the rental card ever expire?

If it doesn't I'll just pick it up this way. A rental for me is $4.71 or so, so 7 rentals breaks even with the purchase of the movie.

Edit: he says theatrical version in his post.

The way it worked for other movies that they did this with, was that you had to rent 1 movie per week for the 7 weeks after you purchased the card. If you missed a week, you lost the rental for that week. In CA, I believe, you can rent the 7 movies with no restrictions on the 7 week time limit.

The $25 and 10 rentals for the last movie was much better!!

I'm sure this isn't the Extended edition, correct?
No, it's the regular edition that was shown in theaters. The Extended Edition doesn't come out until late November I believe. Amazon has a $25 deal going on pre-orders for that one. Do a search for LOTR here and you'll find it.

yea, its great in Cali since the 7 wks can be used anytime you want...as long as you wait a week before renting the next movie. It used to expire...but some law in Cali prevents this from happening 😀

speaking of which, I still need to use my cards up for Monsters Inc n Spiderman

you know what sucks about this? this is a participating locations only thing and there wasn't a participating location within 30 miles of my house for the last one. Blockbuster sucks! great deal for those who can get it.

Yup, it's good that here in California gift certificates never expire.

California r0x0rz! I found a really REALLY old gift cert I bought a LONG time ago, and went to the store to see if it worked, and it did!

Anyone know if you can use this for game (xbox) rentals, or just DVD? I have like 100 DVDs of which I havent seen 50, but I can always play some more xbox 🙂

One thing that sucked with this deal was that the Blockbuster I went to didn't have any more of the cards so they put it on the system. Well, they also didn't have any other promotional information, after I bought it they told me that the rentals could only be used at that particular location. Not that big of a deal, just a hassle to have the employee post a memo to the system that I've used a 'free' rental. I've only used it once at the time of purchase, so hopefully there won't be any problems.
