LOTR movie question

I only saw TTT once, but the gate to Mordor doesn't seem to be same as the first one where the Ringwraiths rode out to the shire from the first movie is it? The gate from FOTR seems a lot lighter than the one in TTT where it takes two monsters to drag it open. Please shed some light, it is bothering me after I saw FOTR last night on DVD.

I believe this is true. If I remember right, the Ringwraiths have their own castle and their own way in and out of Mordor. Also if I'm remembering right, this might actually be the way that Frodo and Sam take to get in since Gollum doesn't want them to go through the main gate.

The Nazgul had taken up residence in the city of Minas Ithil after they captured it. The name was changed to Minas Morgul.

AKA Cirith Ungol. You should be privy to a closer look at this in the third installment. :)

Wrong. Cirith Ungol is the tower that watches over the pass where Shelob lives. Minas Ithil, also known as the Tower of the Moon, is near the river Anduin.

Cirith Ungol is the tower near the gates of Minas Morgul, it guards the gate that the wraiths passed through in the first movie that we're talking about.

That is incorrect. Minas Morgul is not in the mountains. Cirith Ungol is on the eastern side of the Ephel Duath. Originally a watchtower of Gondor guarding the main pass over the Ephel Dúath to watch what was coming out of Mordor after Sauron was overthrown.

That is not quite accurate. Minas Morgul was in the valley at the western base of the Ephal Duath whereas Cirith Ungol is on the eastern side at the pass through the mountains.

We should just let Kami in here to shut one of you up. :D

I always thought the Ring Wraiths scene showed them coming out of their castle, not out of Morder.

Here's another question for you all...did anyone else think it was kind of weird how there was this convenient little door on the side of helms deep that aragorn and gimli use to go attack the orcs on that bridge part? It just seemed like out of place...kind of cartoonish. You would think that perhaps saruman would have known about that smaller, weaker door.

map 1
map 2
map 3...

Map 3 gives the most detail and has it in the valley at the base of the Ephal Duath like the description in the book.
