I have enjoyed all of Jackson's movies, and I am looking forward to this.

(and btw, I was a film studies minor and tv production major in college, so not all "film buffs" agree that the LOTR films are poorly directed or acted.)

The Matrix was the first film to use bullet time?, that doesn't mean it was the firs to go to slow-mo camera for bullets though :p
They couned, trademarked the phrase, so really they were the first to capitalise it.

LOL, i guess taking a film class and having "insider friends who hear a bunch of gossip" qualifies you as a movie expert and all other's opinions (even the Oscars) are void. :p Next time I'll make sure to get your opinion before I go see a movie..

I never stated that, nor did I imply it.

But I enjoyed Your silly pathetic attempt to make fun of me.

What?! I mean, I know that I can not type, and do not proof read, and do not edit for spelling and syntax later, but this ...

Anyway, - they (who are those misterious "they", btw?) did not coin, trademark, or capitalise (on) anything involving the technology that allowed to produce the effects of "bullet time". Unless, of course, You creadit this technology as the only reason behind the financial success of the Matrix.

Can anyone translate this into something that makes a little bit of sense?

I guess the days of coming out with really original ideas for a movie are long gone. Most movies nowadays are remakes. LOTR was good and this year there will be a bunch of big movies, but most are based on comics, books, or are remakes. I wish someone would come up with a huge blockbuster that was original so that 50 years later someone else will do a remake of it. What do you think?

I don't need to attempt to make fun of you...just watching you try to write a coherent sentence in itself is pure comedy. ;)

And yes, you did imply that your opinion was better than any of ours because YOU took a film class...wasn't that what you used to justify your opinion? Or why else did you mention it?

Often people tend to forget, that it is an industry. People make films to make money. A flop is a very costly mistake, -hence the sequels and remakes, - the financial success of the original somewhat warrants at least certain gross, and, possibly, success of the remake/sequel. Studios do not care, - what to put out, as long as it is profitable.

Wow, the opening statement is nice ... certainly, great set up for a marvelous dialogue.

Taking out Your frustrations on others? Good for You! Hope You feel better!

And as far as "And yes, you did imply that your opinion was better than any of ours because YOU took a film class...wasn't that what you used to justify your opinion? Or why else did you mention it?", - one more time, for the exceptionally slow ones in the audience:

reread the thread, all of Your questions I have already answered.

Que...?

I don't proof read either, but judging by your posts, my English is better than yours and it's not even my first language.
Your elitist attitude doesn't really work too well with that spelling.

Oh and by the way, movies like LOTR and The Matrix are entertainment.
And obviously both movies are pretty good at entertaining, seeing as most people, kids, parrents, geeks, jocks, etc etc, seem to think very highly of them.
I'd say that fact alone qualifies them as good movies.

Noone cares what a bunch of elitist "I went to movie class so my oppinion is worth more than yours" critics think.

Not as much as you'd think.

Anyway, my only issue with the Lord of the Rings thus far is that it seems they weren't adapted properly for the screen. It seems as though they just took the story, cut out some stuff and slapped it all together. I feel that they could've adapted it to the screen better, which God forbid, may have included changing part of the story in order to work better for the screen. :Q

I went to see the first one out of curiosity, and the second one by mistake. The mistake being, that, - since I did not like the first one, nor did I think it was well done, I still went to see the second one, only to watch the battle scene. Now, where I went wrong, was forgetting the film's rating. No battle scene with that kind of rating is ever going to be good enough for me, especially since I mostly watch unedited Asian (often very violent) films

The meaning of Your post escapes me, for I am not familiar with the views of the said user.

It's not the views you two share, it's your spelling and grammar habits. The fact that you can't write a coherent statement without proofreading only goes to show that either english is not your first language or you're just an idiot. You seem to be proving the latter over and over, though.

oh oh

I know a doctor that tells me some medical knowledge. I also took a first responder course...I must be an expert at surgery then! I know more than all your powers combined!

I am so thrilled that You find Your English being better than mine. Wow! Now, that must have made You feel good, did it not?! You must be better than me in all the respects than, right? My heartiest congratulations!

Thank You for defining my attitude, too!

And thank You for shining light on the something very secret, - that films are entertainment. I would have never guessed it! I always thought that the reason that films like LOTR and The Matrix are made was to make people come together and wonder what is the meaning of life.

Now, since, as well as You spell, You are still, obviously, one very very just plain ... not so smart person, I'll run it by You one more time:

I never stated that my opinion on certain films was "better" than anyone's. I also happen to have the mental capacity to understand, that an opinion is just an opinion, and can not be a better or worse opinion.

Also, taking few silly classes would never lead me to believing, that, even if it were possible, to have an opinion better than somebody else's, that my opinion was superior to all others. Or any, for that matter.

No, English is not my first, not even second or third language. 4th, yes

But I do thank You for Your kind words. There is nothing like an insult, that is masked with a bit of "polite" language, to make the author sound rather sophisticated, instead of an a-hole that he is. Good job!

Well, it might or might not be, but the point is, that You, like so many others here, although I have number of times clarified that already, continue to state that I claimed to be somehow better and to have a "better than Y'All's" opinion on films, and that I base that "fact" (my opinion is better than sombody else's) on that I took film classes (because, You know, nobody else on this planet, but me, did) and occassionaly come across a piece of fresh gossip.

<sarcasm>Obviously, having watched many films, having taken film classes, and having had a few drinks with some DP's and what not, - I am the only knowledgeable person in the Universe, when it comes to films, and my opinion is so much better than anybody else's</sarcasm>
