I started watching Lost the other day and I am hooked. I've been watching about 2-4 episodes a day and can't wait for the next one! Even though there are several things that make no sense at all and I am dying to know what the monster is, I still can't stop watching.

Do NOT give me spoilers!!! I'm actually surprised I haven't heard any in all the time that it's been on.
 
Take my advice and slow down. Cause once you finish season 5 you have to wait until 2010. 🙁 Also season 4 is shorter than the other two, so just remember that when you start watching it and wonder where the other eps are. Most of your questions will get answered by the end of season 5 though.
 
It's a great show, have fun watching them. I suggest you visit the LOST fan wiki, paying special attention to the episode guides. They will reveal a lot of additional information and connections revealed in the episode that you might have missed. They freeze frame scenes and point out significant artifacts.

What an awesome show.
 
Seriously, I think it'll take you more time to read through the Lost threads than it will to actually watch the episodes.

That's what i've been doing as i've been watching it on netflix live stream.

the Lost wiki has ALOT of info on it.

DO NOT read the episode summary until AFTER you watch the episode.
 
I'm fairly positive I went through Lost seasons 1-4 in less than 3 weeks back in Oct 2008, that is how addictive the show is. Pure sensory overload, all filled with awesome. Except that episode about Jack's tattoos and the one with Paulo and Nikki. Waiting each week for a new episode through Season 5 sucked. Waiting till Jan 2010 for Season 6 (especially following the Season 6 cliffhanger) sucks harder.

One thing I like a lot is how the show compels you to swtich sides - I like Locke! Fuck Locke! Fuck both Locke and Shepard! Yeah Sawyer, bitches! Kate's badass! OMG she can't make up her damn mind! Hell, she will follow whoever the current alpha-male is!

Good times to be had. Finish Seasons 1-5, wait 2 months and rewatch the series. Dozens of times, you will shake your head in disbelief. "Holy crap, this bit of dialogue in Season 1 fits perfectly with that episode in Season 4. Holy fuck, they couldn't have actually planned this that far in advance? Could they? OMGAWESOME!"

Eventually, everything does. Except for a few minor continuity errors/blunders (Charlie: can't swim in Season 1, excellent swimmer who went swimming along with his Dad as a young lad), the show does a good job wrapping up all unsolved mysteries.

That's the thing I love about Lost.
The writers are genius, and they pay attention to fans and throw them little goodies with the show.

And yep, they've had basically the entire series planned out from the beginning, but mostly just in vague concepts of what points to hit when, how they'll arc topics across episodes scattered from season 1 through the end.

I think when they write episodes, they must write down ideas for later episodes that connect to that episode. So many episodes connect, like you said, season 1 having things linked with season 4.

They always wanted the show to progress in a specific fashion, and they were being forced to drag their feet until they could convince ABC to let them decide the end, and that showed at points. But after Season 3, it's a rollercoaster ride because they had every episode pre-planned at that point, rather than just concepts to hit at certain times.
 
I was just talking about Lost in a thread earlier. I agree with destrekor, the first half of season 3 was pretty bad because nothing happened. It really has been great since then though.

Most of the huge "wtf" questions do get answered. However, even after this last season, we only have a somewhat good idea of what the story is with the monster. It's still not perfectly clear. So some huge questions are going to hang around for a few seasons.
 
lol, i'm watching the end of episode 17 and Hurley is listening to his walkman. i make a comment to myself "shouldn't his batteries be dead by now?" and just as I finish saying it, the walkman stops working. talk about perfect timing.


One thing I find annoying is that they show one thing in one episode and then not show it again for several more.

one of the things that made no sense was when Michael asked Sun to watch his son. This was before he knew she spoke english. why would you ask someone who doesn't speak english to watch your son?

Hey, when did I make this thread? I'm doing the exact same thing, about 16 episodes into season 1 on Netflix streaming.

When the show came out I was highly skeptical because I hated "Survivor" and it looked like it was just scripted version of Survivor. So I never watched it. But over the years I always heard a lot of people talking about it and when I got my Netflix subscription, I thought 'what the hell...' and queued up the pilot.

Yeah, I watched 3 or 4 episodes that night.

I want to get caught up before the next season (I guess season 6?) begins. The show is incredibly well written.
 
Man, if i tried to spoil the show for you and told you what was about to happen you wouldn't beleive me. Things get REAL FUCKED UP and REAL STRANGE. And you'll go through certain parts hating them or wondering WTF is going on but later on as you learn more you will enjoy those same parts that you disliked when you were watching them.
 
i just started it as well about a month ago. for the longest time i talked crap about people who liked... but now i think its the best tv show ive seen in years. its truly addicting.

gave me a new respect for jj abrhams
 
I predict Theatrical releases after the series ends.

It's too hot of a property to just let go.
