"Hope" was the only thing that remained inside of Pandora's Box. I had the Pandora thought as soon as Locke mentioned "Hope". This thing is Pandora's Box. Also raises the question: If all of humanity's plagues were inside Pandora's Box, why was "Hope" in there? This hatch is definetly no good, as I'm sure the Pandora's Box reference was deliberate.
