edit:
this was posted on another board, seems to reaffirm your theory.

From the top of the screen, something flies down, hits the engine, and the engine blows up

It looks like a piece of debris, but a piece of debris wouldn't keep flying

In case this isn't already obvious....
John Locke===> English political philosopher
Rousseau (French Lady)===>French Political philosopher
both had large ideas about the "state of nature". Good educational reading, regardless of implications on the show.

Plane tracking results from the Oceanic Air site listed above.

Interesting notes from there: the numbers all show up in sequence.
More interesting than that, they show both a Scheduled and Actuall arrival for the flight at LAX, but the flight is listed as "ALERT"

The whole Oceanic Air site is awesome, if you've got some free time, I highly suggest searching around there.

Why does this come up over the text on the sites homepage?
"Robert D. West, of Santa Barbara, California, USA survived a horrific plane crash and is stranded on an island somewhere Northeast of Australia and Southwest of Hawaii. In the event that I am never found, please forward word of my fate to parents, Mr. and Mrs. John West, of Tucson Arizona. Thank you.

Robert"

I think thats one of the notes put in Charlies "messages in a bottle" Whats cooler is at the corner of that little area, if you click and drag, you get a "teaser script" with a description of the monster. Quite obviously a FAKE description, but you never know :p

If anyone should find this message, please get word to Sandra Rafflethorpe of Palm Avenue in Lewiston, Idaho that her sister, Sally is alive and stranded on an island somewhere in the South Pacific. Please send help soon. Things are bad. And they're getting worse...

That thing about mapinguari...it is supposedly, well:

"The deep Amazon jungle of Brazil provides the backdrop for tales of the Mapinguari, a large nocturnal animal with a frightful screaming cry. Locals describe the Mapinguari as about two meters in height when standing on its hind legs. It is covered in red hair and emits a foul odor. Its feet are turned backwards and its claws are capable of ripping apart the palm trees upon which it feeds.

Ornithologist David Oren believes the Mapinguari is real. He has searched for it for twenty years. Oren suggests the Mapinguari is a surviving ground sloth, similar to the (presumably extinct) Mylodon . While the smaller tree sloths still exist, ground sloths are generally assumed to have died out around ten thousand years ago. So far no tangible evidence of the Mapinguari has survived close scrutiny"

I have a question to ask you guys ---

I recorded all of the episodes of Season 1, but I'm debating on whether or not I should pre-order the DVD box set from Amazon (it's about $39)

Would the special features be worth it?

Let's make it easier for amol - $39.99 here http://shop.coconuts.com/product.aspx?sku=40712520&loc=41159
there's a $10.00 rebate (on that page also) and use this coupon code for 15% off. ~$23.xx in the end. amazon is good and all, but $23.00 is better (just tested 15%, should work)
