Lost WinXP CD

I have 2 PCs atm, both with WinXP installed on it. I have one WinXP Cd with me. I do not know which PC it belongs to though.

I am building a new PC to replace one of the PCs (which I will be taking the HD from for the new one). Is it safe to install my winXP Cd on the new one? What happens if it the one that is on my other PC?

Is there a way to tell?

The license keys are what really count, not the CDs. Are both of your XP installations based off of the same overall variant (for example, both WinXP Home SP2 OEM, or both WinXP Pro SP1A Retail or whatever)?

Oh, and addendum: by the terms of the license agreement on OEM variants, they can't be transferred to new computers. You could sell them off with the old motherboard/CPU/RAM combo to recoup some of your cost, and the OEM license would still be valid for the new owner of the hardware. If your licenses are Retail ones, however, the license agreement lets you re-use the Windows license on new computers 🙂

Windows XP Pro w/ SP2... and looks like I lost the sleeve with the key. Hope I can find it. They are from my University.. I got them last year (since graduated and moved across the country)
