When I open control panel/add/remove programs, I get the following error message:
"mshta.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. An error file is being generated."

I replaced the mshta.exe from a backup, but it didn't solve the problem. Does anyone know what other routines/.dll/other files that this function calls? Any cluse on how to recover this capability?

TIA!!!

From the run line, enter

sfc /purgecache <enter>

then

sfc /scannow <enter>

It will ask you for your Windows CD. When it finishes it wont report anything, but your problem should be fixed.

Failed Add/Remove functionality in Windows 2000 is generally the result of a corrupted IE upgrade.

If you upgraded your IE, simply re-install it to fix the Add/Remove applet.
