ok, went thru everything that was on the sheet, ,when i clicked on the apply button it did nothing, after talking with the grand kids, it seems as they used "easy" cleaner " to help grand mom, as close as i can tell they ran the unnecessary files and deleted all of them =250 files. can i use the original xp home disc and reload or do i wipe and reformat and redo xp home
thanks, sammy

It is not clear to me what the problem is!

System restore lets you restore the computer to a previous state. It is useful if you install a software that makes the system unstable. You can then use system restore to undo the installation.

You refer to missing files.
You can use the original XP disk to install XP. But, that may not bring back the files!
Do you have an XP CD or a restore CD?

Can you give an example of a missing file?

Are you referring to the restore points being deleted? Or the Restore functionality itself is not available? You are being a bit unclear here.

If you deleted the restore points you would need a data recovery program, and even then it is unlikely that you would find anything of any use.

It seems pretty clear to me that OP wants to restore the overall SYSTEM RESTORE function that apparently has been removed.

Consider a repair install if you have the original CD.
