i received a plea of help from a friend who received a donated machine whose o/s is password protected. its win98, unknown if its first or second edition (does that matter ?). she reaches the password prompt and can proceed no further. any help ?
 
Yeah, press cancel or escape out. 98 has no security to speak of on its own so you should be fine. Windows 2000 would be another story all together.
