First of all, yes I do own xp home. I have the coa on my computer. I lost my cd that came with my computer and it's in need of a reformat. I tried the manufactor (HP) and they wanted me to pay for one since it is out of warranty. Anyone know where I can get just a cd with xp home on it? Besides the obvious torrent downloads?

[*]Ask someone to make you a copy of the OEM cd since you already own the COA

You can get almost any Restore CD set from here

http://www.restoredisks.com/

Prices are not too unreasonable considering what HP
might ask you to pay ... I know I once paid Toshiba
about $25 for their laptop restore cd set

John .. that would work, but it needs to be a HP copy
of the Product Key & License Key will not match and
at some time, WGA will complain about it .. It also should
be from the same model of HP computer so it will have
all he correct drivers on it

Make and model of the computer is unimportant. HP's is no different that the other "OEM system builders" such as Dell, Compaq, Gateway, eMachine, local Mom-n-Pop shops, etc. They all use an OEM copy of the OS with an OEM product key, and it's the same OS that can be purchased at Newegg and other e-tailers. WGA will not complain at all, and the only thing that you might have to do is phone it to activate it. You can then visit HP.com to download the current drivers. As long as Jpark acquires and OEM copy of Windows XP home he will be fine. :)

I always use my OEM Home sp2 disk to reload other peeps comps, even really old ones with XP COAs. As long as you have a valid COA your good.... sometimes I have to call Bombay, sometimes I don't.
