pep boys. If you don't have a locking gas door with an internal release, it's time to buy a locking gas cap anyway.

just use a tampon. make sure you leave the little string on the outside so you dont lose the tampon.

I drove from Maine to Oregon several years ago, bought gas about 15 times, I arrive in Ontario, Oregon, can't pump my own gas, when I got to Portland, I found out the jackass in Ontario didn't put the cap back on.

I once lost one too and my friend lended one from his car that fit (same make/model but different year). A few days later my car started stinking really bad. Turned out that you need a gas cap from that model. who would have known?

If they carry it; it would be at least 1/3 cheaper.

Here are some at AutoZone. Just put in your car's information and it will lead to the gas cap section.

$13 for locking
$15 for pressure relief vented cap w/ locking
and $7-$10 for non-locking

For a Honda Accord, Ex, 4cyl if it makes any difference.

If it's $9, then just get it from the dealer...

I loaned my old truck to a roommate once, and he lost the cap. He went to a gas station and asked if they had any. They pulled out a box and let him have his pick. It happens.

Hmm, all the cars I have driven the gas cap is attached to the car by a plastic tether. What car makers leave them free?

Only new cars have that feature. Some new American cars don't even have that feature.

My 2001 HA has it free, but I am in the habit of putting it in the slot on the gas door and I have not lost it yet. *knocks on wood*
