You're a pretentious fuck. That is why you lost your job and you should have. It is not your job to regulate other people's lives. You should seek a job as a Democrat politician. You would fit in quite nice.

Well said. OP, you're a major douchebag and the stadium is a better place without you in it. WTF appointed you as the preggo police?

Mind your own damn business - so you honestly think two beers is going to cause a pregnant women to have a baby with fetal alcohol syndrome and cause the kid to come out all messed up?

Miller lite has what, 4 or 4.5% alcohol by volume?

I wasn't interested in contributing to her consuming 1 or 10 beers, the amount was of no importance to me.

Good for the OP. I would have done the same thing. Ignore the people saying you don't have a right to tell other people how to live. People should be stopped from making bad decisions whenever possible, through whatever means are necessary.

Applause for OP.

But it's been proven that a beer or two doesn't hurt either the drinker or the fetus...
Was she already drunk? If so, that should have been your reason...if not...none of your fucking business.

Sorry, but you're completely wrong. It's not like OP went around telling other beer vendors not to sell the beer to lady; he made a choice to do not contribute to possible detrimental effects to a baby. None of his business? Bullshit it's not; I'm sure there are quite a few babies born with FAS that would've BEGGED to make their health someone else's business besides their alcoholic mothers'.

Damn, how can you be so sure that this was the first beer she ordered after getting pregnant?

I appreciate the OP for standing up and refusing service to her.

I'd have said no, too. While really it's not any of your business weather she drinks or not, it is your business if you sell it to her. Your company doesn't have a policy for something like that?

Would have done the same as OP out of concern for the baby. Too bad you had to lose your job over this.

Alcohol during pregnancy

If you do decide to drink alcohol while you are pregnant, it's best to stick to light drinking. That's no more than one or two units of alcohol, no more than once or twice a week.

Heavy or binge drinking is dangerous for your baby. Heavy drinking is six or more units of alcohol a day. If you have five or more units in a session, it's binge drinking.

Miller Lite - 4.2% - about 2.5 units
Miller High Life/Genuine Draft - 4.7%

You're the douchebag..... he wasn't trying to dictate how she lived her life, she was free to order it from another vendor. He didn't say "you cant' do that" he said " i don't feel comforatable selling to you"

while i support her right do drink beer and f*** up her unborn child, it's his right to refuse service.

"Oh, crap, uh, these beers are really warm. I accidentally left them sitting in the sun so I have to go back to get some more. You can get them from someone else..."

Although I would have felt wrong selling to her, I don't think it was your call. If she's 7-8 months in, it's likely not her first beer with the baby.

it's his right to refuse service.
No it's not. He does not have the authority to decide who can and cannot buy from him. The only thing he can do is complain to his boss, and look what happened.

Clean conscience is worth more than a part-time job.

I agree. Personally I think it should be illegal.

If you're really bitter you could make a web page or facebook account explaining how the Reds sell to pregnant women, and get them some bad PR.

So...all you folks saying he did the right thing, you'd be 100% behind the government stepping up and passing a law to forbid alcohol sales to a pregnant woman? After all, if the vendor was right in refusing to sell to her, there ought to be a law about it so he couldn't be fired for it...right?

Won't someone PLEEZE think of the children?

You're retarded, this has nothing to do with the government. We are talking about one person who is free to ask for a beer vs. another who is just as free to decline the sale. Whether the beer would have harmed the baby or not is irrelevant.

Abortion SHOULD remain legal...as should selling alcoholic beverages to a pregnant female.

it's her body...it's her choice.

You're retarded, this has nothing to do with the government. We are talking about one person who is free to ask for a beer vs. another who is just as free to decline the sale. Whether the beer would have harmed the baby or not is irrelevant.

And you're retarded for thinking that someone should have the choice to refuse to sell a legal product to a person legally allowed to purchase said product.

Fucking "do-gooders" trying to impose their morals on other people.

Wow pretty sad for being fired over that. You did the right thing. TBH I think I would have just sold it on fear of causing a scene, but that's not the right thing to do. And how the hell is this not illegal anyway? They make it illegal to smoke when a child is in a car, but it's legal to drink when preggers? I don't get this world sometimes.

No it's not. He does not have the authority to decide who can and cannot buy from him. The only thing he can do is complain to his boss, and look what happened.

But he does. He has authority over what he chooses to do. It may not be a right recognized by his employer, but has the right to refuse to do what he believes is morally wrong. What the OP described seems like a legitimate thing to be concerned about.

He lost his job, but they can do that if they want to too.
