Lost "minimize windows" button on quicklaunch toolbar

In windows 2000 - I must have dragged it off at some point when I meant to click it.

I know I can accomplish the same task with the "WindowsKey-M" keyboard shortcut, but my muscle memory is used to clicking the icon. I poked around in the WINNT directory looking for the familiar icon, but didn't spot it.

Does anyone know how to restore the "minimize windows" button if it has dissapeared like this?

I hate that, I just did it last night TOO!! Search google for lost show desktop shortcut.

The top search result for "lost show desktop command":

In "%systemroot%/profiles/<user>/Application Data/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Quick Launch" create a file named Show Desktop.SCF, open it in notepad and put this in:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

If it's a fresh 2000 install (not an NT upgrade), the Quick Launch directory will be in C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch.

Thanks. My google results weren't as productive with "minimize windows". Now that I have it back, it's easier to remember that the button is better known as "show desktop".

Seeing the .scf file makes me wonder what other useful commands I could turn into handy little buttons. 😛
