On my dual boot system (see sig) I have lost my win98se inf and sys files for both of my 'cd' devices...any idea where I can download these for free? (They are both out of date on Manufactures websites.)
Also a note about a FAQ, there is a FAQ describing a dual boot WinNT, Linux but however they fail to say which Linux version or which Linux Distribution, and these should be mentioned, as each changes how LILO and Config (actually called Linuxconf.) work.

Also am looking for Linux 6.0 compatable 'drivers/images' for DVD and CDRW.

Thanx....

Nice Site, Think I'll Read a While...

thats strange normaly you dont need custom driver files for those things as windows has default support for them. Have you tryed looking for driver resource sites. I believe there was one called something like driverdownloads or something like that.

You may find the file names you need through Google. Include the entire file name in quotes because otherwise, the "dot" will break up the search into the two components.

I would try going into the device manager and uninstalling the drives. Upon rebooting, they should be automatically detected and reinstalled.

The .inf file is appearantly on the floppy that came with the DVD and on the CD that came with the burner.....However I don't have either of those items anymore...

Windows 98 CD is damaged (guess where the scratch is???)

Another weird thing, the LILO boot failed (I've never had that happen) so now I have to use a floppy to boot to Linux...

Oh well thanx.

Anyone out there have working Autoexec.bat that includes the CD Rom install (MSCDEX.BAT) referance?

If I can just get them to show on Windows then I can D/L the drivers and such from anywhere and install them...

I found them online...One was one the Manufacture of my computers web site (that would be the DVD)

The other was on a hackers website that I try not to use to often.
