Lost in Translation

Great movie, I loved it and have it on DVD. I think the opinion is split 50/50 here on ATOT. They either loved it or hated it.

Yep, those who are old enough to have ever had a relationship love it and the 12-14 year olds hate it because it doesn't have any explosions, car chases, nudity or light sabers.

Definitely one of my favorites, and I've watched it many times. The camera work was excellent, and the whole movie just came off as very artistic. Bill Murray was funny, but not too funny, and Scarlett Johansson's aloof demeaner really fit her character. I've heard that some Japanese were offended by the movie because of the comical depictions, but whatever. Why do some people have to drag race into everything?

Loved it, own it on DVD. Script + Cinematography + Acting (aka directing) = the great movie trifecta.
Loved the soundtrack too, which always elevates movies into a league of their own for me. Almost every movie I own has a fantastic soundtrack.

I didnt think it was anything special...

:Edit:

After some more examination of that review site, I can safely say they are a bunch of movie snobs who have poor taste in cinema.

I generally don't have the same feelings as the overall scores on rotten tomatoes. But I liked this movie.

I liked the beginning of the play movie scene about all the l tall buildings in Tokyo flashing a red beacon light. Just like Tokyo at night...

I didn't care for it, and yes I've been in a few long term relationships and I'm 28.

I watched it with my old roommate and she loved it. About halfway through, I asked, "So, is anything going to happen in this movie?" That's when she said, "I don't think you're going to like it. The whole movie is like this."

The cinematography was nice, and being flashed around the streets of Tokyo was cool. But overall, I was bored out of my skull.

it is really underrated.... murry's only movie that i like.

How the hell could it be called "underrated"? It won the Oscar for best original screenplay, and was nominated for best actor, best director, and best picture. It was pretty much universally critically acclaimed - if anything I'd call it overrated. I'm also at a loss to understand anyone who doesn't like Rushmore, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Kingpin, A Life Aquatic, Groundhog Day, or any of Bill Murray's tons of other great movies.
