So the French woman said there were "others" on the island & no monsters & that she killed her own son?

Medical/genetic experimentation?
No she didn't kill her son Alex... that's why she kept asking Sayid where Alex is...

She killed Robert, apparently.

I did miss the part about her being a scientist... hmm ? If so, she holds the key to a lot of the anomalies we've seen ...

This could be the Island of Dr. Brousseau.

She sais she was part of a team that wrecked there on a boat, the boat was too badly to be repaired (maybe it could be now with the parts from the plane?), so there is also a wrecked boat on the island. Anyways, I think she killed the whole team, she said something about losing them one by one and later said she killed Robert.

I'm not biting that hard on the psycho angle, sure she's a bit batty, but I'd bet 90-95% of what shes saying is true.

That baby won't make it, any bets on how many episodes it stays in the story? Will it survive birth, which looks like then next episode?

She's able to survive on an island for 17 years.
She's able to rig up an electric torture device and has electric lights from bulbs that haven't burnt out in 17 years (or maybe she had a 17 year supply?).
She can rig a srping trap strong enough to capture a good-sized man.
She's got enough ammo to go out and shoot "bears" for 17 year.
She's got enough know-how to rig up a distress signal that runs on a loop for 17 year.

...but she couldn't fix a music box?

haha you know what part of the episode was great? when the doctor and the black dude were like

(camera panned in on doctor and black dudes faces)
Doctor: I don't know ... this looks like a bad idea.
Black Dude: Yea, i don't know about this either.
...
...
...
Doctor: Give me the 7 iron...

That was a great part. Thinking of some of the stress my buddies and I put ourselves through when it comes to club selection came to mind immediately! One of the top 10 phrases of golf season is always "I know i should have hit the 7"

Didn't she say she was a researcher or scientist? Just because she's looney from being isolated for 17(?) years doesn't mean she isn't smart.
Okay, fine... but does anyone else find a large chord coming out of the ocean to be a bit odd?

Not really, it happens all the time.

Seriously though. Large trans ocean power lines criss cross the sea floor, maybe she tapped into that???

I actually stopped watching after the third episode or so because I like it so much (WTF right?!?!).

I want to DL them all and watch back to back without commercial interuption. Much better, and worth the wait in my opinion.

after watching the episode i got this feeling this is going to turn into scientists who were doing genetic or virus experiments.

I guess they were carrying animals on the boat for experiments which explains the polar bear..so the other 'monster' must be like a gorilla or infected human.

she did say she killed them because they changed and to watch the others closely..

And disabled the firing pin on the other gun. 😉

What was the medicine she injected into Sayid? I missed that part.

The cord coule have been the transmission line between a crude electricity producing wave machine.

Another thing about the snare trap, it was made for a human, or something human shaped and sized. t he stick would have missed a pig/boar because it was far enough away from the snare's loop to hit Sayid's thigh. The trap's rope wouldn't life/hold a polar bear.

Actually she was there for 16 years..not much of a difference...and she is freaking crazy!

Why in the world would she keep a gun with no firing pin? And why did she kill Robert (her husband?) and her son?

Those voices were kinda creepy.

She gave Syid a sedative, so that she could move him from the bed to the chair without him either hurting her or running away....which is dumb cuz he ran away anyways and took her maps and stuff.

because they were sick.

then why did she ask where Alex was ?

And about the trap... she meant for whoever to see the tripwire so they'd step over it... onto the rope trap. A polar bear wouldn't be doing that. 😉

17 years, 16 years, who's counting?

Didn't they decide that the message had been broadcasting for 16+ years? I don't recall any mention of how long she had been there before making the recording. Could have been 1 year or 5 or 10. After all, she has that really long extension cord, the long-life lightbulbs and the die-hard batteries.

Good point on the fake tripwire, proves it was for a human even more. So if she's didn't know about the plane crash survivors so why is she setting traps for humans if there are none around?

I said 17(?) dammit! I was cooking/eating at that time. 😛

they never said SHE was the one that made all thoes things, her crew could have set all that up before they 'turned'

I don't think Alex was even a person. She said, "Alex was my child," with no gender appelation. And when Sayid asked if Alex was her son, she gave him a strange look and changed the subject.

I'll bet "Alex" is the name of the project she and her fellow scientists were working on. A-L-experiment?
