Lost a ton of music

I ripped all of my music to my old comp a few years ago. Since then I've bought a new comp and gave my sister the old one. I never bothered to transfer all the music. I went to transfer a cd the other day only to realize that everything is gone. All of the artist and album subfolders are there but all the music is gone. Is there anyway to get it back? I assume the answer is no. 🙁

Nope, nothing. I just don't understand how all the artist/album folders can be there but the music is gone. What happened was I moved my entire My Music folder to a new drive so that I could save it when I reformatted. I hadn't touched it since then. I did share the folder on the local network, with plans to copy everything to my comp. But never got around to doing anything with it. Anyone have any ideas as to what could have happened to it?

I had that problem one time when I dragged and dropped the folders to my CD drive. It copied the folders, but not the contents. Taught me to copy the folders, and check to make sure it was done correctly.

You're trying to recover these off your sister's computer? You can try one of the free disk recovery programs out there, but if there's been a lot of disk activity, most of the file remnants are probably overwritten.
