Ok, I used sequoia, and I found that there is a large file 388mb in my temporary internet settings folder, well when i go ther to find that folder, it isn't there, i search for it, it isn't there, is this a ghost file or something? This isn't all of the space lost, but could be the reason for losing so much I think. But i just can't delete it.

Empty your Temporary Internet Files from within IE.

Either that or just delete the folder in Explorer.

Or, if Explorer doesn't want to get rid of it, use the command line. rmdir /s /q is a very powerful command - it won't wipe files in use, but it can wipe out entire directories and their contents, so use it carefully. rmdir /s /q "Temporary Internet Files" would be the command, assuming you're in the directory directly below the TIF folder. Some files may not be deletable right away - rmdir should report the names of these files. If you really want to delete these, especially if the big file is one of them, Killbox should do the trick.

Disappointing that a thread such as this lingers when the third reply (given over a week ago) would have proved sufficient.
