and he got shot through the eye. i would hope this was a pretty obvious correlation, but the 'nothing existed before this season' crowd might've missed it...

yep i caught that also. but it's probably just thrown in just to make us go 'ooooohh what does that mean?'

on another note, I was happy to see Desmond back. I like his character

I don't know, I think they could be hers with a push-up. She's not small.

Is it just me, or does alt-Keamy NOT seam like a sociopath? And I also like the back and forth between Sawyer and Flocke.

"Why don't you just turn into Smokie and fly across the water?"
"If I could that do you think I'd still be on this island?"
"Of course not, that would be ridiculous!"

Another good quote from Lisa Loeb: "Maybe you should have hired mercenaries instead of a geologist!" 😀

i thought she said geophysicist?

Or maybe you can use your imagination and just pretend it can travel up to 10 feet from any solid surface, thus since a tree is holding up the plane, it was able to climb 10 feet over the tree... the sonic pylons were set up in open areas where there is nothing for it to climb over.

I just assumed the smoke monster threw the guy up in the tree...

I was expecting the package to be Aaron. Isn't there supposed to be great tragedy if he returns to the island or isn't raised by only his mother?

Sad to see Desmond dragged back into this - he's one of my favorites.

When they said "not what, who" i was guessing walt, aaron, or desmond. love desmond too.

although I have to wonder if maybe he isn't the package, because we haven't actually been told for sure. maybe he was just part of the plan and the package could still be walt or aaron?

That's exactly what I was going to say. We really don't know for sure yet whether or not the package is Desmond.

The package is not complete without Pennnnaaayy 🙁

I'm still waiting for the return of those either promised to return, or should return to complete the story:
Libby
Walt
Juliet
Bernard

And, it would be nice to see, even in passing:
Ana Lucia
Mr. Ecko
Michael
Shannon

And where the hell is the star of the show, Vincent?

my predictions are that we will NOT get more information on walt or libby. we'll probably get a few minutes about juliet as well as rose/bernard.

no more eko or michael. maybe some shannon and ana lucia but doubful there too.

the writers are gonna leave us with a LOT of mysteries considering the pace of the season so far

In an interview a few months ago, Juliet said she would be in about 15 percent of the series this season. Which, to my mind, means she would need to appear in the next two or three episodes at the latest.
I still predict that Juliet will meet up with Sawyer in the alt timeline.

Am I the only one who hasn't lost faith in an eventual return of Mr Daniel Faraday? He was one of those interesting characters that I was sad to see go. 🙁

Faraday and Desmond are my favorite characters in the show thus far.

And the japanese dude, wish they introduced him sooner.

Yeah I like Faraday a lot, I am still holding out hope we will see him again. Was happy to see Desmond because I like him too. I sure as hell hope they do not bring Ana Lucia back (they won't) because she's horrible.

This episode was pretty good, but not as good as last week. As soon as I saw it was a Sun/Jin episode I knew where that was going, but it was still interesting. It was cool seeing Mikhail shot through the eye as I remembered him from before, seems to indicate there is some sort of tie-in with the Island world or, as others have indicated, everyone will end up the same in the end.

I'm a bit confused by Widmore's character now. I guess it's just because we always saw him as a bad guy, but now we are to assume he has been good all along and just trying to stop Old Smokey from leaving the island?

I can see them bringing back Walt, but I don't remember anything major attached to the other characters that would necessarily have them come back to the show. Refresher on why these 4 (other than Walt) would need to be brought back to complete the story?

I think Widmore has a different objective from both Jacob and MIB. When Ben was kicking Widmore off the island he was giving him some reasons why, and he said that Widmore had a child off the island, and also said he spent a lot of time off the island.

I think Widmore wants the find the secret to long life, like Richard enjoys, and that he wants this both for himself and Penny. He founded the Dharma Inititive to try and find out the secrets of the island and what allowed people to live so long on the island.

So Widmore wants to prevent the MIB from interfering with his plans. Plus, Widmore knows that letting MIB off the island would be bad, as he said in this epi, so he wants to flat out kill MIB. I think Widmore either doesn't care about Jacob, if he even knows Jacob is dead, or that he might have have somehow been in league with MIB originally to set up the MIB killing Jacob, and now Widmore is double crossing MIB.

If this is true the whole Penny-Desmond meeting could have been arranged by Widmore, and that Widmore set up Libby to loan Desmond the boat. Desmond may be a "special" like Walt and Widmore has been using Desmond from the beginning.

Nice, you are obviously much more in tune with this stuff than I am. I was half asleep when I watched the episode last night; did we learn why Widmore abducted Jin? I remember everything else form the episode, but I can't remember hearing that.

KT

Anyone else pick up on what Locke said to Jin? Something about sometimes people not being meant to be with each other despite their love?
Maybe Sun and Jin are like that? What with Sun being shot in the alt timeline and Sun and Jin being separated for 3 years island time.

Not to constantly bring up unresolved plotholes but what ever happened to(or will they ever explain) his[Widmore] rivalry with Ben Linus. They seemed to have competed with each other off the island but it seems now their goals aren't all that dissimilar... Ben wanted to help bring the 6 back to the island which ties in with keeping MIB from leaving which is what Widmore wants. So why were they trying to kill each other?

edit: didn't read techs theory when I wrote this but that sort of makes a bit of sense.

I don't think we learned why Widmore abducted Jin, except possibly because Jin may be a candidate and that by keeping him out of MIB's hands, then MIB couldn't leave the island.
Or, it may be revealed why when Jin meets Desmond, since that's why Widmore had Desmond brought from the sub.

Here's a thought. Did Sayid have a funny look on his face when he saw Desmond? Could Desmond have an effect on the "infection" that took hold of Sayid and counter it? Turning Sayid back to being the good guy torturer we have come to know and be confused by?

What I got from the episode was that the geophysicist abducted Jin without Widmores consent which was why he was bit pissed and said "what's done is done" before he spoke to Jin[baby pic scene]. The geophysicist abducted Jin because she believe he's the one who signed that map of the known locations for pockets of electromagnetic activity.

Was there ever an explanation about Libby in the same mental institution as Hurley?

there is no rivalry anymore. Ben is no longer a leader and is a follower now. Ben couldn't bring himself to kill Widmore's daughter and after he killed Jacob, he doesn't have spiritual guidance to provide meaning to his motives. so he's more or less along with the ride to see how everything plays out.
