the irony is strong with this one.
what?
the irony is strong with this one.
Oh, one more thing (gotta sleep, lol, but want to say before I forget):
If anyone really wants to get in deep and discover the potential series pivot, look into the real history of immaculate mother/goddess + messianic child myth that really does weave itself in and out of human history and countless world religions, starting with Ishtar/Tammuz, continues with Isis/Horus, and runs down the line with Greek, Roman, and even Roman Catholic beliefs, as well as being major themes in all number of lesser known/practiced religions and cults.
Really interesting stuff.
Also: dingoes ate my babbyyyyyyyy 😛

random smokie sightings and ben rabbling on about an invisible guy are not even remotely the same.
sorry, i guess this is why i bash most of the movie threads. i like my entertainment to not be full of retarded plot holes. go tickle JJ abrams junk since he can do no wrong.
So what are the big reveals in this episode? Everyone was talking about how this was the big episode where lots of questions will be answered.
Sorry you just can't be "entertained" and have to over-analyze everything. You must have not like Star Wars either? That thing is riddled with impossibilities and loop-holes.
Where did Richard come from - and how/why did he become ageless.
when/how the black rock ended upon the island
when/how was the foot statue "destroyed"
a little more insight about Jacob and MIB - jacob surprised me by kicking Richards ass on the beach - he tried to drown him. Jacob has typically been one to be mellow.
99.999% clear that MIB is the evil badass and Jacob is the enforcer keeping the badass trapped on the island. No clear answer as to what would happen if MIB was allowed to leave...
And.. Hugo told Richard that he had to stop the MIB else everyone was going to hell [Richard's dead wife told Hugo this]
srsly man, you have to be f'n retarded to believe that this ep did not answer questions.
as i said earlier, you'd have to be 'f'n retarded' to have not already figured those things out.
you seriously hadn't yet come to the conclusion that richard came in on the black rock? SERIOUSLY?
right, the other theory being that he was a magical flying gypsy from mars who farts rainbows.
in this show, the situations all fall into one of two categories: either one theory has been obviously hinted at and is reinforced by many things observed in the show (and all other theories are thusly crackpot crap), or no one has any idea and random shit is just being pulled out of the air.
the above situation was not the latter of those two.
as i said earlier, you'd have to be 'f'n retarded' to have not already figured those things out.

i legitimately enjoy discussing the show. but you OMG THE ANSWERS people need to just go watch american idol.
So you actually knew how he ended up on the ship, and how (and why) he became ageless? With that intuition you must have every scene for the rest of the season worked out by now! 😀
We already knew he came to the island via the Black Rock - Now we know the circumstances for why he was on it.
We knew he was immortal and how he became to be immortal(via his confessional with Jack) - Now we know the reasoning behind it.
We also now know his backstory, his motivations, what his role is, his relationship with Jacob & MIB, etc BUT... [and I love the show don't get me wrong and it was a great episode] in any point does it answer any of the hard hitting questions that reveals anything *major*
There are a shit ton of questions and it seems like they only want to answer the most benign ones(So what if he's immortal?). I was hoping(Since I don't expect anything anymore) that they would reveal something significant, something larger along the lines of who Jacob/MIB is, where/when did they come from, why do they have powers... why do they have this unique relationship, why can't they kill each other directly. Of all people, I thought Richard's backstory would provide more insight into that. So while I enjoyed being updated with his backstory, I felt like I was left hanging by a thread just like the end of every other episode so far which isn't necessarily a good or bad thing.
Funny thing is, we still don't know "what" made him ageless. We know Jacob did it, but not how he has that power.
Similar thing with the numbers. Sure they tied the numbers to the 6 candidates, but that doesn't explain:
1) Why those numbers were on the hatch
2) Why Hurley picked those numbers and won the lottery
3) Why the radio in S1 transmitted the numbers
4) Why those numbers are the ones you needed to enter into the computer in the hatch
5) Any other situation involving the numbers

they're not going to resolve 95% of the shit they've been toying around with for five seasons? that's a bit of a downer. if you think they're 'wrapping things up,' you have the memory of a goldfish. the whole jacob/MiB thing has only been around since the last episode of the previous season; you realize this, right?
