Holy crap, I didn't notice. Throughout the entire show, they kept having these 'Surprise mofo, it's me!!!' moments with the Locke backstory, and I couldn't remember who anyone was.

Claire looked way too happy and confident in the cabin. She in on something?

She might be dead.

Indeed Miles kept staring at her, asking to hold the baby. It would make sense the psychic could see the dead; however why could Sawyer see her. haven't figured that one out yet.

I'm thinking the whole idea of her dad coming and getting her was kind of the 'it's safe to move on if you come with me' moment. I'm beginning to think we're going to find out that Claire has died... but how her dad was able to hold the baby, when her dad is dead... that's strange.
I hope Claire isn't dead, but if she isn't, I hope they have a great explanation for the whole cabin scene.
And WTF... "move the island" ?

oh, and when did we find out Claire and Jack have the same dad? Was it one of the past episodes where Jack mentioned they are related... or even the scene where Claire see's him and calls him dad? Are those two moments really the only times where it's been revealed, or was there something earlier that made this kind of known? Beyond those two moments, I have no idea where this came from.

It would seem that some on the island can't die or don't stay dead long. Locke, of course, and Mikhail, the guy who was trying to kill Desmond and Charlie in the underwater Dharma center in 'Through The Looking Glass'. Whether or not we'll see others who have died come back remains to be seen. Maybe another filler episode next year with Nikki and Paulo rising up from the sand at the beach. Both suffered comatose effects of spider bites and were buried alive. A humorous episode bordering on The Twilight Zone. And then there's the question of how Jack and Claire's dad is alive, if he is, since Jack was in Sydney to transport his coffin back to L.A. Can't wait to see how they move the island. Gotta love this show.

Did anyone else catch that the orderly that told John to go on the walkabout, was the same guy that spooked Hurley when he was in the mental hospital? He also got the people together on the freighter. Where does he fit in the puzzle?

There was a Claire flashback episode in which Christian Shepard shows up to pay for her mom's medical expenses after she became comatose from a car crash. That's really how we find out.

Anyone else feel like they are really stretching out the episodes.
I remember the first season when lots of things happened in each episode, the plot was moving ahead a lot faster.
Now it seems like its filled with lots of filler material and the plot is moving very slowly.

Lots of things happened in each episode because they were just fleshing out the story line and did not have half of the cast that they do now, including the Others and the Tailies, not to mention the Widmore group and miscellaneous others that pop up. Its answering questions at its own pace ... it isn't the last season .. they still have two more seasons to go.

lost has a contract for two more 17-episode seasons as far as I'm aware.

it was a pretty big announcement last year when they said "three more seasons and that's it."

6. Two more 17 hour seasons after this one and it's done. The creators of Lost actually pushed ABC to accept that, they wanted a defined end date so they could move the series forward.

Are we watching the same show here? They have been steadily revealing a LOT of new information. Except now, it's kind of a bit more subtle.
And ABC as well as JJ Abrams and the rest of the show's crew, have all stated the show would run 48 more episodes following the close of last season. That's three 16 episode seasons. This season is going to be 14 episodes, so that's two 17 episode seasons after the conclusion of this season.

They basically already have a plot structure for each episode from here on out, and just as the seasons approach they'll flesh them out to be full episodes from the episode briefs they have now.

Essentially, there are extremely minimal chances of the show being canceled. ABC would rather this show continue for likely eternity, but the creators were getting tired of continuously fleshing out the story as much as they could. They wanted a definitive end so they could narrow down and create a dynamic and powerful story. Much easier to do that when there is a time limit, versus an indefinite time-line.
This show rakes in so much money for ABC, they'd be insane and quite likely brain dead to cancel it. Advertisers pay so much money to have airtime during and around the show. It's why they are able to be so extravagant as far as production goes.

I had forgotten that Cheech was Hurleys dad. And I didn't recognize Veronica Hamel when she appeared, which is unusual since she was such a hottie back when she was on Hill Street Blues.
And Michelle Forbes was Admiral Cain on BSG.

Also the viewers that watch the show has been steadily declining since the show aired.

This week it had less viewers than NCIS, CSI:Miami, and House.
Those were the bottom 3 on the list.

I like the show but I know how the networks work.
The first sign of a show in trouble is when they start playing with the time slots.
The other thing is pre-empting the show with other shows that get higher ratings.

I don't think they will cancel it now, but I will be very surprised if they show two more seasons.

ABC makes a ton of money off the show & the ratings are still extremely solid. Do you think every show outside of the Top 10 is going to be canceled? The reason they moved it was to see if they could attract more fans by putting it after Grey's Anatomy. Plus they can charge more for commercials on Thursday night, thus making even more money. This is not like when Fox would bounce shows all over the lineup & then cancel them.

As for the repeats, the networks have finally realized that serialized shows like Lost, 24, etc. don't do well in repeats. That's why Lost was supposed to air 16 consecutive episodes beginning in January, the only reason we got repeats was because of the writer's strike. If everything goes according to plan, the next two seasons will run 24-style with no repeats.

ABC has agreed to let the producers set an end date so they can map out the story appropriately, and barring some catastrophic drop in the ratings, we'll be seeing both those seasons.

I think the reason for playing with the time slots was primarily due to the writers strike. It screwed up a lot of things as far as time slots go.
Next season, I expect a return to the 9pm time slot, possibly on Wednesday like it used to be.
Gray's Anatomy proved to be a big show for ABC and I think they guessed wrong as to potential viewership in regards to time slots for Gray's and Lost.
I have a feeling when they start the next season and it doesn't get screwed by a strike, it'll stick to one time slot and get much better ratings and viewership.
