I really figured it would be Claire and not Boone. Claire has been a useless character from the get go. Even more so after she lost her memory. Meh.

Flashbacks reveal Claire's backstory of the former boyfriend that got her pregnant and abandoned her and the psychic who convinced her to take the ill-fated flight that lands her on the island. The psychic kept insisting that she have the baby... it must be born... while she was reluctant...
 
Wow. Excellent episode, full of drama and real emotion. One of the best of the season. One life ends while another begins... reminds me of Live's "Lightning Crashes" song.

anywho, it's no doubt that Shannon will now be a mumbling wreck for the rest of the season, while Sayid attempts to find out the cause of Boone's death to prove bravado to her (hence the preview of Sayid shooting Locke).

it's pretty messed up that after all that happened, Locke chose to run back to the bunker thing instead of stay with his friend Boone who he had grown the closest to.. there's obviously more to it than we've seen thusfar.

So are we not supposed to know if Jack ended up marrying that girl or not? Is he currently married still? Did something happen to her? It can't be that hard to write freakin vowes for someone you love. There's more to that story too.
