They've gotta have some underground tunnel system connecting the two islands....or well they did have that other small fishing boat!! Don't forget that. But they gave that boat to Mike and Walt. Hence why they needed the other boat!!

When Ben came to get Juliet for surgery, didn't he say "the sub came back."

I swear I heard that as well. Also, in the last scene, when they are showing the view from the prison island there are some bubbles in the water near the bottom of the cliff, I swear I saw a periscope come out of them...probably just my imagination though.

I heard "sub" too...glad I'm not the only one! :D

Edit: Well, the doctor lady did tell Jack they were underwater. Also, when they went to hijack the sailboat from Sayid, they came to steal it from the ocean, not from the jungle, and they were completely dry - a submarine makes sense...

I thought the image in the previews looked like a guy wearing an eye patch as well. My first thought was some sort of pirate. And I'm almost wondering if he's connected to the old pirate ship that contained the dynamite in last season. We never really learned much about that ship and it was odd that it was wrecked, deep within the island.

Eyepatch person= person with glass eye from the Arrow hatch? That was my thought at least.

Did anyone else read the children's book "Bunnicula" when you were a kid? I think that's the title. Anyway, I kept expecting to see that bunny show us its fangs...

It definately was. I paused it on my TiVo to get a closer look. At first I thought it was an alien, so I rewound it to get a better look, and it's a guy with an eye patch.

Wait, wait, wait, it all makes sense to me now:

Fox Mulder is going to show up on the last episode and realize that all of his crazy conspiracy theories are true - ghosts, alients, evil governments, oh my!

y'know - that's been my fear that this show will end up trashing itself like the x-files did.. That was such a solid show until they drug the main story lines on too long...

I thought that the X-files had a real weak ending, with Mulder and Scully and the baby. It's so...anti-climatic. It also turned into a cop show when they put Dogget on. I mean, he's a good actor, but it just wasn't X-files anymore.

Anywho, what is the big secret with Lost? The Others are willing to lose their own (getting killed)...and they seem to live as kind of a big family...and yet they feel the secret is big enough that they can't tell the island dwellers. I am so clueless :Q
Here's an idea. If you don't like the show, then don't watch it.

This isn't an X-Files thread BTW.

Here's an idea: STFU. You cannot stop anybody from posting in this thread, so maybe you should just skip some of the posts

So if the cage that Swayer is in, is for a Polar Bear, how did it get to the other island? Can they swim that well? It seemed pretty far to me.

How do polar bears swim?

They dog-paddle with their head and much of their back above water. Their blubber helps to float them as they swim. They can swim at an average of 6 miles per hour.

I wondered the same thing...

According to the Official Lost podcast, there are other "Others" on the island.

Looks like we will be meeting them soon!

I think it's pretty safe to assume that the village was on the island where the plane crashed, and that this new jail island is on another seperate island, and that the other island shown to sawyer is legit and in the fact that the main LOST characters are on that other island, the the Others (and jack, sawyer, and kate) are on this 2nd island. put these into place.

- michael took jack, sawyer, hurley, and kate to a dock when they were captured at the end of s2. they were on a dock that had boats. i would say it's safe to say after they captured them, they took em on the boat and now are on this other island.
- sayid and jin took a boat to get to find them, so they most likely couldn't get there by foot, so it is safe to assume it's on another island after this past episode.
- the others wanted that boat badly, which would tell us they NEED it for something.

so I dunno, it seems very plausible to me, and I don't think there is any underground tunnel going from one to the other.

also check these pics of the map on the blast door on the hatch...

v1
v2

Look at the little "veins" on the map, behind all of the Dharma stuff. it looks like they could possibly be little rivers/water ways between different pieces of land. so I truly think that there is more than 1 island, and probably more than 2 islands. jack, sawyer, and kate are probably in "The Swan" right now.

The Others wanted the boat so bad (Desmonds) because if our side of the island has a boat, that means they can get to the Jail island. No boat=no threat.

What do you mean kate/s/j are in the Swan though? We already know about the swan and that's on our island of course...

What if those "Rivers" on the map are really underground pathways?

Oh I didn't realize the main LOST island was the Swan. I was just pointing out that it was one of the islands that was completely surrounded by the "paths" on that map. The paths COULD be underground tunnels, however given the scope of the map and the scope of the size of the island(s) they seem more likely to be bodies of water IMO.

Sawyer is a daddy.

I think Sawyer got conned by the woman he conned. There's no baby. :D

Yeah, but why would she come all the way there just to taunt him? She didn't know about the money. If there is no baby, then she'll never get the money from the government anyway since it's in her would-be daughters name. It also doesn't make much sense that she slapped him with a jail term then told him about the baby, rather than just telling him outright. Then again, he probably wouldn't have stayed around as the father.

This isn't an X-Files thread BTW.

Here's an idea: read all of my posts before passing judgements. I like Lost and I also like X-files. We were talking about Lost, "y'know - that's been my fear that this show will end up trashing itself like the x-files did.. That was such a solid show until they drug the main story lines on too long... " and comparing it to X-files. Obviously this isn't an X-files thread. Get with the program man!! :D

here's an idea: this thread is about season 3, episode 4. there's a link in the OP for people to talk about the show's "disappointments" in general. i understand you like the show, but the conversation gets derailed when people start talking about stuff other than the current episode.

i know i wasn't the only one who was like "WTF......that was easy" when Kate climbed out of her cage.

does anyone get a sneaking suspicion that Kate is somehow with the Others?

also, who do you guys think has the tumor?

Benjamin is the obvious answer. could be another deception. they knew that Jack would see the x-rays.

first, when talking about one episode, it connects with 10 other ones, so you can't stay on JUST this episode.

second, I think it is Ben. Why would they fake it? I think this is what Ben was talking about to Jack in a past episode about what he had to do to get off the island. I find it very convenient that he is a world famous spinal surgeon though. Maybe the crash wasn't desmonds fault?

i don't have any problem with talking about previous episodes, as they relate to the current episode. it's just irritating when every episode thread has at least a few people who whine and moan about the show's pace, plot, direction, etc, etc. we now have a thread for that conversation.

anyways, to answer "why would they fake it?"......i wouldn't put any deception past the Others or anyone in the Dharma Initiative. the Others had costume makeup and elaborate scenarios to fool the castaways. who knows. *shrug*

btw, Jack said it was a male in his 40s. first instinct was Benjamin. thinking it over, Locke could fit the description.

i looked at the preview and it might have been some creative editing......a quick cut of Ben, then a cut of Jack saying "you're going to die, etc". my initial guess is Ben......but would they make it that obvious in the preview, after making it such a mystery in this episode?
