How do you people not understand this?

They're looking for the island. It's hidden somehow and they're trying to detect it by an electromagnetic surge. Penny is searching for Desmond. The race is sponsored by her father, so I'm guessing he financed the island and ensured that Desmond reached it.

thats a little too obvious, not so sure its the right answer.. they couldn't leave a cliff hanger that could be answered in one episode.
im confused as all hell, but at least i don't have to wait for january to pick this show back up like i have to when it comes to 24. i love september season starts.

Regardless of if you loved or hated the episode, I still think this was one of the best finales I've seen in a long time...they sure know how to string us along. I can't wait to see all the discoveries that get made...why did the quarantine door get flung up, what is special about Kate, Jack and Sawyer (and what's going to happen to them), etc etc...

I can't wait to rewatch the season over the summer 😀

I was actually hoping that letting the thing go did nothing, the fact that it really had some effect was something of a let down...also they gave zero insight as to who the other people were...

The field with the vacuum tubes was odd and kinda creepy at first, originally I thought it was an indication that locke was right, but thinking about it desmonds theory makes more sense seeing as the observation tubes went no where.

Oh well guess October it is

Yeah that sounds plausible, considering Desmond's girl had a lot of money.. she'd hired people to look for him if she knew where to start.

humm, i agree, the explanation has to be a bit more complex than that... However, i was "lost" as hell after watching the finale, so at least that helped me place things together. But would people really waste mltiple years of their life voluntarily to carry out some rich mans plan.... still very confused tho

Wow, crazy, as always, it's like a damn movie that ends in the middle. I wish I could just keep watching...

Kinda like LOTR, although if you read the book the desire to keep seeing more wouldn't be as strong...

It...I assume it's the island.

why would they be looking for the island anyways. especially funded by Desmond's gf. how would she know that he's on that island?

They're some of the most popular characters, that's for sure...

meh....didn't really answer anything..except for why the plane crashed....again, feels like they could've done this in one episode

although locke, eko's, and desmond's fate interests me.....

Ya ... and it's not difinitive ... The producers said that's it though. I guess that's how hte plane crashed ... LAME.

Walt resolution ... LAME ... better than killing them though.

Seems like Henry Gale is the one who leads the others. Kinda funny thinking about his comments in the hatch.

I am getting fed up with the cliff hangers.

Because her dad is part of the hanso foundation probably.
