Man, I've seen it all now 😀

Just saw Brokaw talking on it for the preview for the Nightly News. You can get a tax credit for being overweight. Guess I won't be getting one😉

LOL - Nice, Russ.

I guess this proves that you can tack on everything for disabilities - including a beer belly.

<< WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Your diet may be deductible, the nation's tax collectors say.

The Internal Revenue Service issued a ruling Tuesday saying that fees paid for weight-loss programs -- when ordered by a physician as a treatment for disease such as obesity or high blood pressure -- qualify as a medical deduction.

But the cost of diet foods is not deductible, nor are fees paid for weight-loss programs merely to improve appearance or general health.

They are just allowing it to be a qualified medical expense if you qualify to deduct medical expenses - i.e., you have out of pocket medical bills > 7.5% of your income.

Yes, but they will not collect a lot of SS b/c they will be dead . . . heart attack, kidney failure, stroke . . .

Exactly what I was thinking.

I see no problems with this as it's laid out there.

The fact that someone is overweight does not automatically mean that they are unhealthy. There are plenty of people carrying around extra pounds that are in perfect health and will live long, normal lives.
