Losing video card signal when playing games

I can solve most general computer screw ups on my own, but this one is a real noodle scratcher, guys. When I say losing video card signal I mean that when I try to play most games my monitor goes NO SIGNAL RGB STUFF forcing me to restart. The sound will also die/loop. I had the problem on an old CRT as well as the new LCD flat panel.

Weird facts about the problem:
Battlefield 2 works fine in singleplayer. Monitor dies when attempting multiplayer.

Half-Life 2 doesn't work at all. Counter-Strike: Source works 100% of the time when playing Iceworld. All other maps (except Compound, which works half the time) kill the video signal and crash.

Installing updated video drivers does nothing.

On the +12 line of your power supply, it is rated at 16 amps, thats a little low for what you are running there. I would first run memtest86 to test for bad memory. If that passes, I would swap out that power supply.

Could someone recommend a good power supply to use with that case? I've never swapped out a power supply before, what do I need to know?

Just get a 550 watt PSU and you'll be fine.

Switch AGP fast writes to off if it's on or on if it's off. That fixed it for me when I had an old VIA motherboard.
