losing optical sensitivity on Logi MX500 by using MS software?

after doing all the fixes/workarounds available, and having them NOT work :|, i've decided to use MS intellipoint so that i could get the two side buttons and scrollwheel to work in games. but am i losing the capabilities of logitech's superior optical engine (800 dpi as opposed to the 200 on the MS mice) by using the intelligpoint software? also i'm using the mouse on the PS2 port via the ps2/usb converter
