I know alot of people don't like Wal Mart, and quite frankly I don't blame them. They treat their customers and employees like shit. But in the end they are successful because people shop there. Vote with your wallet. If you don't like how they do business, don't shop there.

I once saw a list of the top 10 worst supermarket chains in the U.S., and Wal Mart was no. 2, but they ironically had the most shoppers out of the entire list.

Walmart is losing market share in recent years. Sam's Club is doing even worse.

Walmart has the most shoppers because Walmart is the biggest, duh? America is waking up and realizing that "cheap at any cost" is damaging to local communities. Not everyone, but there is a slow regression away from Walmart right now that they have been unable to turn around with marketing.

^ Good. As soon as Walmart goes away, you creeps can focus all your emo-rage on whoever will become the new number one.

That should be good for some new laughs, because all the Wallmart whining is getting boring as hell already.

It'll at least be entertaining seeing idiots go apeshit over Kroger or Target or whoever else! "Wahh! Wahh! Target is evil! Wahhh!! Those evil Kroger bastards!"

Maybe you'll get some new material while you're at it, but I doubt it.

It's multiple factors. People like me avoid it like the plague. I love Target even though it's near the same quality - except the empoyee's are decent, the stores are much cleaner, and the products are at least somewhat more durable. Oh - and the customer's don't make me scratch my head. I've been meaning to play some Walmart Bingo out of curiosity of how many I really could get.

Oh - and they don't have lines as long as trains because they are cutting costs and only allow 2 registers open. When lines start to get long at Target, naturally, they say on their radio "Hey retards, someone else should get down here. I heard making customers happy is useful".

Likewise, with all of the immigration they are actually helping to take a bite out of Walmart with hispanic grocery stores that bring in special imports (Fiesta comes to mind in TX).

In my town kmart truly was evil - if you ever shopped there you were forced to remember the prices listed on the shelf because on average half of them rang up at the register at a higher price. This crap went on for years because they were the only department store in town. And checkout lines took forever because everyone demanded an employee price-check the items against the tag on the shelf.

When we finally got a WalMart about 5 years ago, kmart finally went out of business.

I do have a very legitimate gripe against kmart.

Walmart didn't just magically become the largest retailer by being terrible. Obviously they have a successful formula. Lower price products, little hassle on returns and such. Time after time they crushed other similar places like kmart, it's not an accident.

Like walmart or not, they offer something the public wants. If you think you can do it better and pay your employees more, have at it.

Ha! The overriding memory I have of k-mart was going into the toy department there once, and toys were strewn ankle-deep in every aisle of the toy section. Parents would just drop their kids off in the toy section while they shopped elsewhere in the store and the little terrors would go ballistic tossing toys everywhere. I'm sure later some poor slob that worked there would have to pick all that crap up only to have to clean up after the next wave of dropped off kids.

It always struck me as the absolute worst place to shop. PeopleofK-mart would have made for an even more entertaining site than peopleofwalmart.

"First 2 DC Wal-Mart stores to open Dec. 4; retailer says it got 23,000 applications"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local...c9dd0c-514d-11e3-9ee6-2580086d8254_story.html

And of course there are also plans to protest these 2 stores when they open.

http://www.wtop.com/41/3510467/DC-Walmart-stores-to-get-first-protests-on-Black-Friday

I can't understand why a business would want to build a factory in Asia or Germany instead of America. We're down in the trenches, fighting for the rights of the little guy while Germany rolls over and takes it in the butt, doing everything possible to attract international business. Don't the Germans understand that jobs bring poverty? EBT cards are the path to prosperity.

Anyone against a living wage for real work is a pawn for the elite.

Good luck with that.

Im not against a living wage, I cant imagine anyone with a problem with it. I do have a problem with government trying to mandate someone's worth through legislation. Imagine having a minimum payment for gardening service being $5000 a week. Your gardeners dont do THAT good of work do they? Your options are to hire another gardener at at least the same rate and hope they do work with a value of 20000/ mo which is more than most of us csn afford... or you can fire them and do it yourself. Do you have the time? Is that REALLY how you want to spend your time? Most gardeners would find themselves out of work. ..
Thats the whole point of employing someone... to do something else you would rather not do.

Listen dumb fuck! Ken was at price club first and WDS was started then, Costco several years later then contracted with them.

No matter how you spin it, Costco did not create WDS and therefore your claim that they used them so they could pay less than 10% of their workforce less is out right ridiculous!

Keep spinning!

How do you know about Ken Chamberlin? He is my father. Your story is pretty on point. Cofounder of price club, wrote the business plan for Costco, founded wds and founded cost-u-less. Interested to know how you know your facts? Please write back. Sean

You have no idea what you are talking about. WDS was created by them. All of their vendors were created by them.

This Ken Chamberlin who started Costco was a top level executive of Costco, and he started with the help of Costco, for Costco. Get your facts straight.

Wds was founded by Ken chamberlin, for costco wholesale. This company was to compliment his in-house brokerage, anderson-chamberlin, as they demo product brokered through their firm. You need to get your facts straight before opening your mouth buddy

Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

Costco was founded by Jim sinegal and Jeff brotman.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Costco

Ken Chamberlin wrote the business plan, and was to be a cofounder, yet the start-up was taking too long. Ken started rose-chamberlin, which became anderson-chamberlin, which became anderson-daymon, which became Daymon associates, all who involve different owners that brokered product to costco. He was the in-house exclusive broker, and he founded kirkland signature.
