i'll let the mods decide if this is hot, or not. I have yet to have a thread locked, but this may be my first :).

and i'm sure someone will explain how illegal this may be?

here's a site that will make a UPC for you....
upc server

just enter the # it's self, and it will show you what the UPC looks like.

useful if you sent in a rebate, and they lost it and you need another copy of UPC? try it, then flame away.

BTW some of you people are morons and do not read the thread! No one is saying the Rebate places will accept this as a real UPC, so stop telling us that, we figured that out right away- damn!

Go to the store, find your item, write it down. You now have a bar code.

paypal this guy a couple bucks if you can

also there really is no way to abuse this, unless you plan on sticking your own UPCs on products in the store! If you can think of away to abuse it, please dont post it here! (but PM me, j/k)

most rebates require the ORIGINAL UPC, but if they need a copy to verify, after you have rebate probs, this would help.

Thats a pretty interesting site. I did notice on the advanced options menu you can get rid of the Milk.com at the top of the UPC by putting a : after your UPC number.

I think there are plenty of shareware (freeware) that let you print your own barcode.
I am not sure that the MIR center will accept the barcode that you printed yourself.

Anything and everything can be used for illegal means.

This has a very legitimate use.

Case in point, what if you sent in your rebate and it somehow became lost?
If you had copied down the barcode number (as rare as this may be is irrelevent)
you can use this site to recreate the barcode and send your rebate for another attempt.

Cars and airplanes are mainly used for legal purposes. There are some who use them
for illegal purposes. Should they all be banned because of a few rotten apples?

Good post. =)

I really doubt a MIR place will accept this.
Reason?
They want the ORIGINAL UPC so that you can't return the product to the store AFTER you've sent in a rebate for it.

Stores usually will not accept a return on an item if the UPC code is missing from the box.

i dont think anyone is saying use this for the initial rebate, only if you need a copy of the rebate if your claim has problems.

as i said:

<< most rebates require the ORIGINAL UPC, but if they need a copy to verify, after you have rebate probs, this would help.

Yea I could have used this when I sent in my rebate and everything but one Bar coded got there. I went around in circles with a guy who kept telling me to RESUBMIT the original bar code lol.

Awesome! I am currently in a discussion with Staples since I lost the copy of my UPC code for my HP 9150i. Anyone happen to know the UPC code for that CDRW offhand? I'll try the store tomorrow if no one here knows.

Awesome find Rally1!
