Computer: Sony Vaio FW190
Network Card: Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100
OS: Windows XP w/ SP3
Router: D-Link DGL-4300
I did several tests, I've signed on an AIM name on my laptop and viewed the name from my desktop and basically the instant my laptop goes to sleep/standby my wireless connection disconnects. If I leave my laptop on all night you can hear the CPU fan going on at points to cool it, so I?d prefer to have it sleep/standby, but I need my wireless to work to receive emails and instant messages while I?m sleeping.
My girlfriend and I have identical laptops, and we both have the problem, and she has a different router, so I think it's in the computer, not in the router.
I have gone into the network card properties and uncheck ?allow the computer to turn off this device to save power? and made sure all the power management schemes are fully allowing the wireless, but outside of that I don?t know what to do. I searched on Google for a while prior to posting. I only found one other person with the same problem, and his problem was solved when he uninstalled SP3. I don?t know if this is an SP3 issue, but I installed XP on this computer with SP3, but I have no experiences with the wireless without SP3.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
