I haven't tried monster play yet because I've been having a good time just exploring the world.

Same here, I am actually surprised at how much fun I have playing this game. I have not found it to be a grind or boring at any point (so far anyway).

Even when I did not have enough cash to rent a horse and had to take a verrrry long walk back to Thorin's Hall, I just enjoyed the journey and looking at all the scenery.

I'm sure after a while that will fade though so it has to rely on gameplay.

I suppose, but I quite enjoy the gameplay also, so I am not too worried.

I was actually wondering the other day if they will eventually add DX10 content to the game to add a little extra oomph to the, already beautiful, graphics down the road.

How does LOTRO compare to DDO (Which had 2-3 months content at release)?

I never touched DDO so I can't compare. I haven't played a MMORPG since I quit DAoC awhile back.

Some guys are pretty anal about the naming and I don't really like how restricted you are.

I was kind of annoyed that I could not just name them what I wanted; I ended up with an Elf Hunter named Keithtalent and a Dwarf Minstrel named Ilovenori.

Hopefully I can come up with something a little more creative once the open beta starts :D

I've been using the same character names since I played AD&D way back in middle school. :)

Those AD&D character names followed me to MUDs, more tabletop gaming, CRPGs, DAoC, and now LoTRO. :)

I like what I have experienced so far in LOTRO, but my ailing rig makes it less beautiful than it could be.

I am still playing Guild Wars, but miss the chance for rescuing a player who got too deep for his character's level.
