I bought this game today, runs crappy on my PC. Now I don't have a super gaming machine, but 640x480@16 it should be decent. it's VERY VERY choppy. It's playable but jumps a whole lot.

my config:

1800+
512megs DDR333
GforceMX440

I know my video card is sh*t but this is the first game I've came across that runs like poop, even at the lowest settings.

I have the latest Omega Nvidia hack drivers, running in Performance mode. I'd like to hear from anyone who's played this game with a similar setup. I'm going to be upgrading my video card in the near future, but for now I'm stuck with a 50$ game that I can't even play well :(

DirectX 9.0b, hummm I just ran 3dmarks2001se to see what results I got. it looked CHOPPY!

I haven't played any newer games on my PC. ROTK is the first in awhile. but I know 3dMarks use to fly on my system. So apparently the problems lays elsewhere. Will spend about 2 hours fiddling with it, check back here. If I have no ideas, f'it I'll just deltree and reinstall WinXP again. aside from Video card drivers (bout to go back to the Nvidia ones) I don't know what could be causing this. Don't have any memory hogging programs installed, and don't have any problems so to speak, with crashes or anything unusual.

Just try some non-hacked drivers and see what happens. Sounds like a borked driver issue.

I'd run adaware real quick to make sure nothings bogging it down. Also make sure there's no viruses present. Of course, shutdown all programs that you have running, yadda yadda yadda. You know, one time I had Motherboard Monitor 5 running and updating every second, and, when I did, 3dmark ran choppy, especially on the nature test.

I'd go with the 44.03 Dets personally. Good stable drivers.

And, yeah the video card needs replacing soon... I see a $70 Black Sunday purchase in your future.....

Well that's true but i'd recommend reinstalling official drivers before buying a new card. If that doesn't work, remember that the 9800SE is $165 now (and the 8500LE is $80 but I don't think it will offer more than a 50% performance increase.) You can probably pick up a TI4200 64mb card for $100 too...100% increase in performance there.

Well, I didn't figure it out but I fixed it. I'm tired of "troubleshooting" so I did a clean install of Windows, didn't check 3dmarks scores yet, but LOTR is now running nicely.

And I haven't even installed the Nforce 2 MB drivers yet. I hate windows, but at least this wasn't a hardware issue :)

yeah, was those "hacked" drivers then

What version windows? if '98 I can understand the hatred, but 2k is a good OS. XP too.
