shame they don't make movies like this too often. not that i was the biggest fan of this storyline, but still epic movie to watch. I hope to see something similar cause Clash of the Titans was a huge letdown for me.

Really would like a good BD release that used branching to provide both theatrical and extended versions. The extended isn't really a "director's cut" - according to Peter Jackson, the theatrical release is that (he thinks it is the "better" movie as a movie, since it flows better). He said the extended version is for enthusiasts (including him) who are more interested in the story than the cinematic experience...

My copy showed up today courtesy of Amazon Prime...

Wondering if mine will too.

I actually bought them all on the 'theatrical' versions blu-ray, and didn't watch those.

As much as I can nit pick the movies, I think I'll enjoy re-watching, been months since I watched through about 4 audio commentary tracks on the extended DVD.

Well Hobbit is a prequel to Fellowship by 70 odd "Middle Earth" years and really tells a completely different story than what the trilogy does, reading those books or watching those movies really doesn't give very much insight to the actual story of The Hobbit aside from a few passing references. Well, at least as far as the movies go. Been a while for the books.

Does netflix have the extended edition? Cuz frankly I am at the point where I hate spending 50 bucks or more. Would rather rent and watch a couple times and lose the urge to waste that kind of cash.

Well, actually I admit thats still pretty tempting.
:hmm:

No. That was the first thing I checked when I saw this.
