Loose fitting PCI-e?

I am testing out my new motherboard with my new graphics card (MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum and ATI Radeon X850XT PE)... and when I set the graphics card into the pci-e slot, I'm able to sway it left and right while its in the slot. Is this normal? I figure that will go away after installing everything into the case.. but I was just wondering if it was normal or should I be worried.

well thats good to know... I haven't got a chance to try out my new system on account of me waiting for Zalman to send me a new set of shorter "nipples" for my heatsink.

is your gfx card also hitting the northbridge fan/heatsink?

EDIT: by hitting I mean touching it @ the end, and probably no more than 5cm's

I have no idea, I have yet to install it since my backplate is glued to my motherboard and my shorter nipples have yet to come in the mail... but I don't think it's going to hit it. I got the CNPS-7000B with the 92mm fan, not the CNPS-7700 with the huge ass 120 mm fan.

Ok, now I know what the northbridge fan is (lol), yes it is almost touching it. Part of it is kind of hovering over it a little bit, but its not actually phsyically touching it.

Mine was touching it, and I was forced to take it off...I'm trying to install my card now but it still wiggles a little and my screen's blank when I try to turn on my new system, so I think it's still too loose.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, it beeps once every few seconds

I don't know about PCIe, but i know that my Radeon 9700TX doesn't fit perfectly in my NF7-S v2, and it still works fine. You might have to have it in a case to make it work, I don't know.

Can you PLEASE contain your stupidity for a few minutes. Ask yourself this, "do i sound like an idiot?" If stupidy == no, hit "submit new thread." Else, ....

Wow, you no want angst? Calm yourself, young flamer. Flaming people in a forum where you ask questions about computing problems, after someone asked a question about.. gasp.. a computing problem. Find a new hobby.

Mine was in a case, then I took it out. I then uninstalled the northbridge fan/heatsink and pushed the gfx card in a little harder. It swayed a little but I was able to stabalize it by screwing it in once I replaced the whole board in the case.
