loopback interfaces

Hey all,

I have a 1700 router with a static ip assigned by my ISP for my public interface and for the longest time I had vpn connections terminating to it. Now I want to play around with the idea of creating a loopback interface as the place to terminate vpns. Do I have get another static ip to assign to this or how does it work?

Thanks.

Right. Hate to ask another stupid question, but is this something I have to contact my ISP for or can I just assign it any static IP (relatively close to what I have right now)?

Your ISP wouldn't look kindly on that, you would need to order another IP.
