Wow man move to Fargo North Dakota. Its by no means a small town, the metro area has a population well over 100,000 , and my 4bed 2bath house cost $115,000.

Fargo is nice in the summer, but I didn't like the cold winter (was living near there 1995-1996).

Move. A starter family house here is about $100K. I'm looking to buy a house (built within past 10 years), 3 bedroom, no more than 1500sq feet for about $150K in a few months. I don't know how some of you manage to live in places where housing is ridiculously expensive.

Area's like NJ and NYC are where the top jobs and schools are located. So higher demand and the higher the pay scales the more money they want.

Well I don't know if the higher salaries in San Francisco even out for 700K condos and 1.1mill homes. Same goes for NYC.

I believe the medium househould salary in the SF Bay area is about 100K, would be interesting to post what the medium salary is in your area as well.

That?s what me and my wife have? a starter home. I?m 41 and she is 31 and we are planning on having kids ( one or two) when we can afford it. I?m at the point we can?t wait and we deserve it! But the dam taxes in Wisconsin for the welfare cases has killed our dreams. I can back it up with votes by our politicians if you like. I?m not sure on all states but here the middle class is hurting! And for example my wife and me are middle class and we make around $110,000. Our home is a starter buy all means (value around $170,00) but with all the freebees for the lower class ?? I give up!!!!!!!

Median household income in Santa Clara County is $72K, which is down from it's peak in 2001 of $78K. As adjusted for inflation that $72K number is even lower!

Median home prices in 2001 were around $520K, currently $740K.

Taking home less and paying more.

I refuse to jump into one ofthese $750K starter homes thant new a complete remodel and a new roof the day you move into them. Not a chance I will be house poor in hopes of building equity. I can rent my 3bdrm aprtment for 30% of a house payment and have free utilities and free maintenance & repairs.

Heres to keeping up with the Jones' and being in debt!
