Just flick it off with a pole.

Or get one of those Ant & Wasp Killer sprays that shoots out like 10ft.

Or fire. Fire cleanses all.

Someone link to the guy who burned down the bee hive on his kid's swingset.

EDIT: I'm voting stick your head out the window with a lighter and hairspray!

Have someone on the ground level video tape.

At night

Knock it down and drop it into a trash can so that you can burn it.

If you are not that brave, then at night soak it with wasp killer spray.

At night they will all be in the nest and more sluggish.

1. Go to Home Depot (or any hardware/home improvement store)
2. Buy can of wasp spray with a long range. The type I buy is in a yellow can and has something like a 15' range.
3. Spray the hell out of wasp nest. Don't wuss out and spray for a tenth of a sec then run. Spray it down good.
4. Point and laugh while dead wasps fall off of the nest.

Methylene chloride has nearly instant knock down power but it's harsh on paint an you too!

Only recommended if they start picking sorties at you right NOW like a those Zero's at Pearl.

Most common wasps are quiescent after dusk so that is the desired time to plan for their demise. If you must use a flashlight keep it small and don't put a lot of light on the insects for long. Soak it good and they'll be gone the next day.

If you smoke - just smoke them out :)
They'll be so sluggish from smoke, you will be able to just take off the nest without them attacking you.

I've always used the wasp spray. Powerful stream and kills them dead.

Do it in the evening when they aren't as active. Plus it kills any that come back to the nest.

Or you could be a real man like my uncle spec. He'd just take his hand and knock the snot out of the nest and then step on it. This is also how he killed wasps, just smack them out of the air hard enough to kill them on impact.

I agree with the wasp spray already mentioned.

If it was lower, you could use Sevin powder. That stuff will kill bees and wasps very quickly. It also works well if you can't see the nest but can see where the wasps are going. In that case, you can place a "landing platform" where the wasps go in. They take it to the nest and that's that.

So, spray with wasp spray for this one.

Good luck!

I took apart an old swimming pool once... there were 4 or 5 wasp nests that I encountered over the course of the job. I purchased a can of that wasp spray stuff that allows you to attack from a safe distance, or so it seemed. Upon being hit, wasps going through several stages: 1. Pissed off. 2. Out for revenge. 3. Sluggish 4. Dead. The distance they can fly during stages 1 and 2 is well greater than the distance that the spray will extend from the can PLUS the distance a human can run down the street screaming like a girl during that time.

More recently, I was preparing to paint my garage doors. I was pressure washing them to get rid of grime. Then, I decided to pressure wash the siding. I noticed a conglomeration of wasps nests in a vent at the top of the garage. The wasps seemed somewhat aggitated at my presence. I turned my pressure washer to a fairly narrow spray and blasted the heck out of those suckers. I think the combination of cold water + just being water confused them a bit... zero stings. Zero even came close to me. They just seemed to run for their lives.

Get a long 2 x 4 and smash it with the end. I've never had a problem doing that. Just push it up into the nest.

RUN! He's got a pressure washer! That thing wiped out billy's entire nest last year. All his pupae and women as well.

RUN!
