Looks like the repubs are going for it: vote to defund PP passes

They will tell anyone who will listen that their constituents sent them to Washington to fight. Not to govern, to fight. If you send your kid to school to fight, and not to learn, he'll find a way to get into a fight. Same thing with Republicans. If it wasn't PP, they'd be shutting down the government over something else. It's the confrontation that gets them elected.

They're like a selfish kid with a toy. If they can't have it, they'll break it so that nobody can have it.

When they have it, they'll break it anyway, of course, being both arrogant & foolish, then blame it on somebody else.

Beating heart, moving legs, and outside the womb. They still want to call babies just a clump of cells.
Well . . . Partially outside the womb. The people who support a mother's right to abort a baby after it's born are in my opinion too far left to be called liberal or even progressive. Although it's worth remembering that plenty of liberals and progressives are fine with allowing a baby born as a result of a botched abortion to die of bleeding or exposure. Including, famously, Barrack Hussein Obama.

We're not and you know that.
That's how we were formed. hell, the readers first furnished by Congress were Bibles. Go back and look at the Founding Fathers' statements and you'll find lots saying that we are not only founded on Christian principles, but that our system of government will only work on a Christian nation. People often conflate our enforced lack of a state religion with an expressed aversion to religion, but in point of fact the Founding Fathers were overwhelmingly religious and mostly Christian, many being Deists similar to most modern Christians.

Ahh, so it's Christ's fault that women don't own their own bodies?
Nope. We are each responsible for what we do, no matter what we claim as inspiration or guidance.

I really think it's the sluts must be punished mentality that motivates most of them.

There must a bunch of them that feel that way. The holier-than-thou syndrome often defaults over the forgive thy neighbor doctrine it seems.

And then there's envy for not being able to have what the sinners have, and then there's the ordeal of resisting the forbidden fruit and feeling guilt from having the desire, and then there's the problem with having feelings of hatred for the heathen when knowing that compassion and love should stand in its place, and then there's dealing with the guilt of having obscene riches and refusing to do the Lord's work with a portion of it, and then there's the problem where a sense of superiority dwells where humility should be anchored in its place.....

You get the feeling that in essence, misery loves company and as they suffer, so should the rest, therefore, the unholy need to see the light, and by yiminy, it's their job to make that happen, by force or lawful decree if necessary.

Thank goodness those few very influential zealots who see things that way have a major problem with reconstructing The Constitution to their liking.

The Government should not sponsor abortions under any circumstance.

That is what Obamacare is for.

So they should only defund them by 3%.

No, the federal government does not need to fund Planned Parenthood at all because Obamacare provides universal coverage for all Americans.

Defunding PP isn't some sort of right wing witch hunt. It's a change that is required with the implementation of Obamacare. Everyone in the nation is required by law to have coverage in one form or another that satisfies Obamacare guidelines. As such, the services provided by PP are in large part covered. PP will have to seek reimbursement for their services the same as every other health care provider in the nation. This isn't some form of punishment, it's the law.

Remember too, that abortions were not paid for with taxpayer dollars so defunding PP will have zero effect on availability of abortions.

You want to build some roads and bridges don't you? This will free up some money for that.

That chart is perfectly valid as long as one accepts doing an abortion and handing out a pamphlet as essentially equal actions. If we look at money spent, that 3% is off by near an order of magnitude.

Planned Parenthood does enough good to stand on their own merits without such blatantly transparent lies.

Why would judging their activities by the percentage of services rendered be a 'transparent lie' but judging them by revenue be an accurate account? That would just bias the findings in favor of expensive services, which would also be a lie. Both figures are useful.

Also, you are wildly off on the revenue figure it seems. Politifact estimates it at about 12% of revenues.

Because that is allocation of resources. If Yankee Stadium has 50,000 seats that must be wiped down before every game and only 50 players, you wouldn't say the Yankees franchise is primarily a seat wiping company, or that a restaurant's main business is handing out menus rather than serving food if it regularly hands out multiple menus per customer.

Okay, you would, if you needed that to justify a political point. Normal people wouldn't.

So dishonest. Obamacare isn't universal because 20 states have not expanded Medicaid, leaving millions w/o coverage. That's been mentioned more than once in this very thread. State law forbids abortion coverage in many places as well. Only 17 states allow state funds to be used for medicaid recipient abortion.

Your argument is a web of lies.

I still don't understand why there appears to be no plan. Why not draw PP funding down at a reasonable rate and start something new that works better? Maybe the Conservative Republicans do have a plan but its odd that the plan is not spoken about regularly.

Honestly at this point even a David Duke plan like paying lower income women to get Deprovera(spelling?) shots every quarter would at least be something.

Nope, Defund them 100%.

Not a dime to any business that supports this disgusting practice of selling babies like chopped up chicken.

How about the Universities doing the work? Seriously I don't agree with your position but I'm interested in what about the businesses buying them.

Because that's not needed according to the plan.

If Government shuts down again I don't want to hear any crap about the Vietnam war memorial needs its grounds kept better or that monuments are closed because they can't pay for security.
Edit:
Anyone who votes to keep Government open is free to complain.

Planned parenthood is a nonprofit, unlike the Yankees. Revenues don't speak to allocation of resources, particularly when they are the recipients of lots of grant money to perform other services at below cost or for free. Trying to count resource allocation through revenues by procedure when you're giving some away due to block grants would be incredibly stupid if they were doing it, and incredibly dishonest if someone were trying to get us to count it this way.

I love when you say something stupid and then immediately resort to defensiveness and accusations of lying instead of just owning up to it. I mean, do you even understand how nonprofits and grants work?

Okay, you would, if you needed that to justify a political point. Normal people wouldn't.

You have to remember, not everyone is a serial liar like you are. To you, lying means 'told me I'm wrong'.

Having you accuse me of dishonesty is like having Anders Breivik accuse me of child abuse. Every thread, every issue, you twist the truth to fit your far left agenda. It's amusing to watch, even though I suspect it's not politically correct to laugh at you.

Here's a hint for a big loose end that needs twisting: resource allocation is what one spends providing a good or service, NOT what one receives for that good or service. Planned Parenthood can get a block grant to provide a service for free, but that doesn't mean providing that service becomes free to Planned Parenthood. Its employees and suppliers still expect to be paid.

This should be amusing.

By far left, you mean what is mainstream everywhere in the civilized world except for here.

None of that is relevant to your statement that they should be judged by revenues.

You're just too tied up in trying to stop me from making you look stupid again to admit fault. Sad.

Except I never said they should be judged by revenues. I said they should be judged by money spent. To wit:

That chart is perfectly valid as long as one accepts doing an abortion and handing out a pamphlet as essentially equal actions. If we look at money spent, that 3% is off by near an order of magnitude.

Only one person you've ever made look stupid. Although frankly, you've made him look so stupid so many times that I'm surprised he still appears in your mirror. Even the dimmest bulb (i.e. you) understands that Planned Parenthood isn't SELLING pamphlets. Even the dimmest bulb (i.e. you) understands that Planned Parenthood has costs (read: money spent) in obtaining and passing out pamphlets. Even the dimmest bulb (i.e. you) understands that for a not-for-profit, expenditures and revenue are not necessarily directly connected. Sheesh. I would accuse you of flailing away at a straw man, but I suspect you really are this stupid. Of course, I also know you really are this dishonest too, so I suppose it could go either way, but your brass in assuming that people cannot read and remember what I said in this very thread tips it firmly into stupid.

By far left, you mean what is mainstream everywhere in the civilized world except for here.

"Far left" is a term Righties use the same way the rest of us use "Asshole". It has no relationship to policy.

Everybody who isn't among the far right faithful is automagically judged to be "far left" as a way to increase cult solidarity.

"Far left" doesn't even exist as a meaningful political force in this country.

Abortions are a sin against God. Every life has value.

Just cause the child isn't as healthy as you want it to be, or the baby daddy doesn't have enough money for you to milk him in child support, doesn't give you the right to take a life.

So are you saying that God is so weak he needs a bunch of bumbling buffoons to protect his interests? How arrogant of you.

You seem to forget a small thing called red states refusing to expand Medicare under the ACA, meaning that millions of poor women in red states make too little money to qualify for ACA subsidies, but make too much to qualify for red-state Medicare. Thus these women don't have health coverage because of right-wing intransigence. And it is primarily these "in the middle" women in red states that need the reproductive services funded under Title X.

Once again: Righties causing the problem, but falsely blaming it on the left. Is it possible to be more dishonest than this?
